With modern equipment, experience, and situation handling, the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security delegation during their rescue mission in Myanmar effectively used two police dogs to assist in searching for trapped victims.

Colonel Nguyen Minh Khuong, Deputy Director of the Fire Prevention, Fire Fighting and Rescue Police Department (Ministry of Public Security), said that two police dogs helped rescue forces determine the exact location of the victims.

On the first day of work at the scene, the first floor of the two apartment buildings had completely collapsed, the remaining floors crushed the first floor. The scene was large, with huge, heavy concrete blocks and a strong smell of death. In that situation, determining the exact location of the victims was very important.

With the help of two service dogs, the rescue team was able to pinpoint the exact location of the trapped victims. In the following days, every time they drilled and dug a little, the team used the service dogs to re-determine the location. Over and over again, the two service dogs responded to the exact same location to assist in the rescue effort.

Previously, rescue teams from Thailand and Singapore had arrived and drilled a hole to search but were not accurate. Despite the difficulties, the Ministry of Public Security delegation took over the locations where the other team suspected that there were still victims trapped to continue the search.

After 4 working days, the role of service dogs was recognized and highly appreciated, contributing to saving time and effort for rescue forces.

The earthquake in Myanmar happened 6 days ago. At present, in the capital Naypyidaw, tens of thousands of people are still living in the open, without electricity, without clean water, lacking necessities and medical care.

Contributing to upholding the moral principle of “helping each other”, the relief team of the Ministry of Public Security, while carrying out the task of searching for victims, also assigned working groups to support the stabilization of people’s lives in the camps.

It is noted that after the earthquake, the Taw Win Yadanar school yard in Zabuthiri town (outskirt of Naypyidaw) became a temporary camp. About 200 people live here in poor conditions. The rescue force of the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam sent a team to set up 2 tents to support people with shelter from the sun and dew.

Ms. Daw Maw Maw - a local resident said that in recent days, she and many other people have felt the affection of the rescue team of the Vietnam Ministry of Public Security when they were given medicine and food... She and the people of Zabuthiri town were very touched by the kindness and affection of the soldiers of the Vietnam People's Public Security.
