Ninh Binh province delegation promotes potential tourist destinations and filming locations in Korea and the United States

Attending the event, the delegation of Ninh Binh province included comrade Tong Quang Thin, member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; leaders of the Department of Culture and Sports of Ninh Binh.

Within the framework of the Busan International Film Festival (BIFF), the Vietnam Film Promotion Association (VFDA) in collaboration with the People's Committees of the provinces and cities of Da Nang , Ninh Binh, Phu Yen, Quang Ninh, and member companies of VFDA opened the Vietnam - DANAFF booth at the Asian Film and Content Market (ACFM). The booth introduces Vietnam's scenic spots in the provinces of Ninh Binh, Phu Yen, Quang Ninh and Da Nang City to promote and attract international investors through BIFF.

Participating in the activities at the Busan Film Festival were the art program "Viet Nam Night" and the seminar Introducing the Asian Film Festival - Da Nang and the filmmaking environment in some provinces and cities in Vietnam . On behalf of the People's Committee of Ninh Binh province, Comrade Tong Quang Thin, Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee gave a speech, affirming that this is an opportunity for Ninh Binh province to approach, meet, and connect with agencies, organizations, film producers, directors and important figures in the international film industry, thereby attracting Vietnam in general and Ninh Binh province in particular to produce films. Besides, this is also an opportunity to promote and advertise Ninh Binh tourism as well as survey and learn from the experience of gradually building film studios to serve cinema and tourism. Ninh Binh hopes to welcome producers, directors, and filmmakers to the locality with interesting Korean film projects.

At the event, Mr. Tong Quang Thin, Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, sent a short but impressive message inviting international filmmakers to Vietnam to produce films. "Welcome all of you to Ninh Binh province, Vietnam. Please pay attention to Ninh Binh, we want to succeed with cinema with you."

On this occasion, the Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee introduced the potentials and strengths of Ninh Binh in socio-economic development in general and in the development of cultural and film industries in particular.

In recent years, Ninh Binh province has not only attracted a large number of tourists but has also been chosen by many domestic and international filmmakers as the setting for films such as: The Quiet American, The Hero's Destiny, Kong: Skull Island, The Desire of Thang Long, Tam Cam: The Untold Story, Come Home, The Flavor of Love, Cheer Up, Brothers... Through the films that have been chosen to be filmed in Ninh Binh by international film crews, domestic film studios, and Vietnam Television, it shows that Ninh Binh province is one of the typical provinces and cities in the country with the potential to become a filming location for Vietnamese and international films to promote the culture, tourism, and people of the ancient capital of a thousand years of civilization to international friends.

Over the years, Ninh Binh has been voted many times with high rankings by prestigious international travel websites. In 2022, Travel and Leisure Magazine (USA) ranked Ninh Binh in the list of 12 most beautiful filming locations in Asia. In 2023, Ninh Binh won the Traveler Review Award, being the only representative of Vietnam in the top 10 friendliest destinations in the world. Forbes Magazine (USA) voted Ninh Binh as one of the 23 most worth-visiting destinations in the world. In 2024, Ninh Binh ranked 4th in the "Top 10 wonders of the world for people who don't like crowds"; top 10 most attractive experiences in the world.

In the coming period, Ninh Binh province will continue to promote the conservation and promotion of heritage values and cultural architectural spaces along with the fine traditions of the people, the ancient capital of Hoa Lu as the foundation for the development of cultural industry, film industry, and film studio construction. Along with that, closely coordinate with the Vietnam Cinema Promotion Association to implement activities to attract and promote filmmaking and gradually build the film industry in Ninh Binh associated with the development of tourism, cultural industry, and entertainment industry of the province, contributing to realizing the goal of the province becoming a centrally-governed city by 2035, with the characteristics of a millennium heritage urban area, a creative city; a large center with high brand value in tourism, cultural industry, and heritage economy of the whole country and the Asia-Pacific region.

*Previously, with the aim of promoting tourist destinations, potential filming locations, attracting international film studios to Vietnam to film films with great appeal, promoting international tourists to Vietnam in general and Ninh Binh province in particular, the delegation of Ninh Binh province participated with the delegation of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to organize the Vietnam Tourism - Cinema Promotion Program in the United States with the theme "Vietnam - New Destination of World Cinema" from September 21-28, 2024.

The delegation of Ninh Binh province had the participation of comrade Tong Quang Thin, member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; leaders of the Department of Culture and Sports and representatives of Xuan Truong Construction Enterprise, Doanh Sinh Trade and Tourism Service Joint Stock Company, and Thien Phu Company Limited.

The delegation worked in Los Angeles, the US entertainment and film company Warner Bros Entertainment, and Google Corporation.

In the Vietnam Tourism - Cinema Promotion Program, the delegation introduced the potential of Vietnam's tourism and cinema, thereby introducing the beauty of Vietnam; beautiful films shot in Vietnam. At the same time, introducing Vietnam's mechanisms and policies to facilitate international filmmakers; specific support and incentive commitments of localities and businesses to attract Hollywood filmmakers.

Through the Program, many American filmmakers wish to come to Vietnam and believe that Vietnam has a lot of potential to become a film studio, many places can be used as backdrops for filming such as: Ha Long, Ninh Binh, Hoi An, Hanoi. There are even many very special places that have never appeared in a film. Vietnamese people are very hospitable, the working environment is pleasant. The agreements signed between filmmakers and localities, associations, tourism and aviation businesses during the business trip will open up new opportunities and increase the competitiveness of Vietnamese tourism and cinema in the region. In particular, Ninh Binh is a typical example of the impact of cinema on tourism, contributing to the development of tourism in Vietnam.

The activities taking place in the Vietnam Tourism - Cinema Promotion Program have created opportunities for Vietnamese tourism service providers to meet and connect with US businesses and partners. Right at the Program, many memorandums of understanding on cooperation in tourism and cinema between relevant agencies, localities, Vietnamese businesses and US partners were signed. Among them, there was a signing between Xuan Truong Construction Enterprise and Indochina Productions Company.
