Within the framework of the visit and work in Binh Phuoc, on the morning of April 13, the delegation of Nghe An province led by comrade Thai Thanh Quy - Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council, Head of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation, offered incense and paid tribute at a number of historical sites in Binh Phuoc province.
The delegation was attended by comrades: Nguyen Duc Trung - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Hoang Nghia Hieu - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; comrades in the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee; Standing members of the Provincial People's Council, Provincial People's Committee, leaders of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Nghe An province and leaders of a number of departments, branches and sectors of the province.
The leaders of Binh Phuoc province included comrades: Nguyen Manh Cuong - Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; Huynh Thi Hang - Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairwoman of the Provincial People's Council, and leaders of a number of departments, agencies and branches of the province.
At the Tau O Victory Site Relic Site, located in the Tau O Quarter, Tan Khai Town, Hon Quan District, leaders of Nghe An and Binh Phuoc Provinces offered incense to commemorate and express their deep respect and gratitude to the heroic martyrs who sacrificed their lives in the Nguyen Hue Campaign and Tau O Victory Site.
Here for 5 months, from April 5, 1972 to August 28, 1972, on a nearly 20 km long road from Can Le to Nam Chon Thanh with Tau O as the main checkpoint, the 7th Division together with the local army and people fought steadfastly to "set up a strong checkpoint, block and hold the position for a long time, not allowing vehicles from below to go up or from above to go down" making it impossible for enemy infantry and mechanized infantry to cross the position.
The final victory belonged to our army and people, but here, more than 1,000 officers and soldiers of Division 7, Corps 4 and thousands of elite sons from all over the country heroically fell or left part of their bodies on the battlefield...
Next, the delegation offered flowers and incense at the National Special Relic Site of the Southern Vietnam Liberation Army Command Base (abbreviated as the Ta Thiet Command), located in Loc Ninh district.
The delegation members offered incense and flowers at the temple of Uncle Ho and the leaders of the Southern Vietnam Liberation Army Command and at the Monument to the heroic martyrs; expressing their infinite gratitude to President Ho Chi Minh and the heroic martyrs who heroically sacrificed for the cause of national liberation and reunification.
The delegation also visited the hall of the Regional Command - where delegations of high-ranking leaders of the Politburo, the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army, and the Central Bureau were welcomed to discuss plans to build the armed forces and implement the directives of the Party Central Committee. At the same time, incense was offered at a number of other historical sites such as: the residence and workplace of Major General Nguyen Thi Dinh; the workplace of Senior Lieutenant General Tran Van Tra.
Also at the Ta Thiet Command Headquarters, Nghe An Provincial Party Secretary Thai Thanh Quy and Binh Phuoc Provincial Party Secretary Nguyen Manh Cuong and comrades in the Standing Committees of the two provinces planted souvenir trees and successfully ended the working trip in Binh Phuoc.
At Ta Thiet base, Loc Ninh district, on April 8, 1975, the Politburo decided to establish the Command of the Saigon - Gia Dinh Liberation Campaign. At that time, the Politburo affirmed: Our strategic general offensive has begun, the new strategic opportunity has come, we have the conditions to complete it early, determined to liberate the South. Seizing the opportunity, at exactly 5:00 p.m. on April 26, 1975, the general offensive to liberate Saigon - Gia Dinh began. Our forces in all 5 directions: Northwest, North and Northeast, East and Southeast, West and Southwest, the suburbs and inner city of Saigon simultaneously opened fire to attack Saigon, opening the Ho Chi Minh Campaign, contributing to the historic Spring Victory of 1975.
