Provincial delegation working in the United States: Opening up many cooperation opportunities in the fields of science, technology, education, and health

(BDO) From March 24 to 27, 2025, during a visit and work in the United States, the Binh Duong provincial delegation led by Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Vo Van Minh visited and worked with the government, met with businesses, and promoted trade and investment cooperation with partners in Nebraska, Washington DC, and New York City.

Accordingly, on the morning of March 24, authorized by the Governor of Nebraska (who is on a business trip abroad), Director of the Department of Economic Development KC Belitz and Director of External Relations of Nebraska Bob Evnen, along with a number of government and business members of Nebraska, had a meeting and worked with the delegation to discuss trade and investment cooperation between Nebraska and Binh Duong; exchange and learn experiences in high-tech agriculture as well as discuss the direction of cooperation between the two localities in the coming time.

On behalf of the delegation, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Vo Van Minh said that after nearly 2 years of friendly cooperation, the two sides have made new developments in cooperation between the two localities, especially in the field of education and training. Cooperation between Eastern International University (EIU) and the University of Nebraska Omaha (UNO) has come into reality. Many delegations from Nebraska have come to promote study abroad seminars in Binh Duong province.

The Director of the Department of Economic Development and the Director of the Department of Foreign Affairs of Nebraska affirmed that they will continue to promote cooperation between the two localities in the coming time, supporting Binh Duong province in the process of digital transformation, high-tech agriculture, medical cooperation and other areas in which Nebraska has strengths.

*Also on March 24, the delegation had a working session with the University of Nebraska Omaha (UNO) and the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC).

Ms. Joanne Li, President of UNO University and Mr. Dele Davies, President of UNMC Hospital, along with leading doctors in the fields of endoscopic surgery, high-tech cancer treatment and medical research attended and exchanged work experiences and medical development with the delegation.

UNO University offers undergraduate and graduate programs in a wide range of fields of study: Computer Science and Information Technology; Social Sciences and Communication; Applied Sciences and Basic Sciences; Business; Architecture and Construction; Arts and Design; Health and Medicine. The school is ranked 304th among national universities worldwide...

*During the trip, the delegation attended a roundtable discussion with member businesses of the Greater Omaha Association of Commerce and Industry (in the fields of: manufacturing, electrical products, healthcare, data processing, education, mechanics, machinery & equipment).

The workshop was attended by Senior Vice President Alec Gorynski and many Nebraska businesses, opening up many opportunities for trade and investment cooperation between the two sides.

Diverse activities in Nebraska will strengthen the connection between Binh Duong province and Nebraska state partners, contributing to strengthening the friendly cooperative relationship between the two localities.

Through working sessions with the government and businesses of Nebraska state, Binh Duong province hopes to continue to effectively implement cooperation with Nebraska state, especially promoting cooperation in areas where both sides have potential and strengths such as: cooperation in economics, investment, trade, science and technology, health...; promoting development in research, sharing experiences in building smart cities and cooperation in areas that are strengths of US partners.

*On March 25, the delegation visited and worked with Mr. Nguyen Quoc Dung, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam to the United States of America, and representatives of trade and investment... at the Embassy.

The delegation provided preliminary information about the working trip and the cooperative and friendly relationship between Binh Duong province and Nebraska state.

At the meeting, Ambassador Nguyen Quoc Dung informed about the good relationship between Vietnam and the United States, suggested issues in the cooperative relationship between Binh Duong province and its US partners, contributing to strengthening the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries.

The Vietnamese Ambassador to the United States highly appreciated the delegation's working trip, especially the development of relations with the state of Nebraska, achieving substantial achievements in strengthening friendly cooperation, trade, investment, medical education... between the two localities, contributing to deepening the relationship between Vietnam and the United States.

*On March 27, the delegation met and worked with Ambassador, Head of the Permanent Mission of Vietnam to the United Nations Dang Hoang Giang; at the same time, discussed the situation of Vietnam's cooperation with international partners, information and opportunities for Binh Duong province to continue promoting its strengths and deeply integrating internationally in the current context.

*Previously, on March 26, the delegation visited and worked with the Director of the World Trade Center Washington DC (WTCDC) at the Ronald Reagan Building and the International Trade Center.

The Reagan Building is Washington DC’s official World Trade Center and a premier event and conference venue with executive office space, attractions, dining, retail and community activities. With this expansive network, WTCDC offers a rich mix of high-profile events such as high-level economic summits, conferences and cultural programs. These initiatives promote international dialogue and strengthen the relationships of WTCDC and its partners around the world.

Through the working session, the delegation and Becamex IDC Corporation hope that WTCDC, together with Becamex IDC, will promote the development of the World Trade Center Binh Duong New City (WTC BDNC), expand other trade centers in localities in Vietnam and internationally; continue to support attracting new generation investors, new industries such as semiconductors, automotive technology, nanotechnology, etc. Thereby, coordinating and connecting with potential investors in the WTCDC network, introducing and supporting potential businesses to seek market development opportunities in Vietnam.

This trip of the Binh Duong delegation contributes to further strengthening the cooperative relationship with Nebraska and US partners. This is also an opportunity for Binh Duong province to deploy connections, expand strong trade and investment promotion activities, and diversify cooperation in many fields such as science and technology, education, health, etc. with US partners.

On July 12, 2023, Nebraska Governor Jim Pillen visited and worked in Binh Duong province. On this occasion, the People's Committee of Binh Duong province and the Nebraska government signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation. Accordingly, the two sides will strengthen their friendly relationship and expand cooperation activities in the fields of planning, infrastructure development, urban construction, economic development, science and technology, health care and education.

In addition, Eastern International University (EIU) has also signed a memorandum of understanding with the University of Nebraska – Ohama in training fields such as: science and technology, health, engineering, economics, and through experiential activities, student exchanges, academic projects, etc.
