Expressing his honor to welcome Vice President of the Lao National Assembly Suvon Luongbunmi and the delegation to visit and work in the locality, Secretary of the Son La Provincial Party Committee Hoang Quoc Khanh emphasized that Vietnam and Laos are two close neighboring countries, the close relationship between the two countries was formed and nurtured throughout the thousands of years of history of building and defending the country of the two peoples. The great friendship, special solidarity, loyal attachment and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos have become invaluable assets that have been cultivated by both peoples through many generations. Son La province in particular, with its location adjacent to the provinces of Hua Phan and Luang Prabang (Laos), is always proud to be a bridge contributing to deepening the relationship between the two countries. In particular, in recent years, the province has signed cooperation agreements and has had close, comprehensive relations in all fields with 9 provinces of Laos.

On this occasion, Son La province would like to sincerely thank the Lao Party, Government, National Assembly and personally Vice President of the Lao National Assembly Suvon Luongbunmi for always paying attention and creating conditions for the development of close relations and comprehensive cooperation between Son La province and localities of Laos.

The Secretary of the Son La Provincial Party Committee informed that in the coming time, Son La province will continue to make efforts to coordinate with Lao provinces to cooperate for comprehensive development in all fields, contributing to consolidating and developing the great relationship between the two Parties, two States and people of Vietnam and Laos.

Vice President of the Lao National Assembly Suvon Luongbunmi expressed his joy and excitement to visit and work in Son La province - a land rich in natural resources, famous for its many scenic spots, friendly people and revolutionary traditions. In particular, the people of Son La have shown a heroic and resilient spirit in the struggles against colonialism and imperialism. At the same time, in the past, the province sent volunteer soldiers to help Laos in the struggle for national independence.

Acknowledging and expressing gratitude for the continuous and practical support of Son La province for the nine Lao provinces that have established sister-states in the past, Vice President of the Lao National Assembly Suvon Luongbunmi emphasized that the delegation's visit and work aimed to implement the Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation between the Lao National Assembly and the Vietnamese National Assembly that had been signed; at the same time, to implement the contents agreed upon at the talks between the two sides, thereby continuing to consolidate and promote the roles and functions of the legislative bodies of the two countries.

Also at the meeting, the leaders of Son La province gave an overview of the local socio-economic development situation in 2024 and the first quarter of 2025; the cooperative relationship between Son La province and Lao provinces; the results of the supervision work of the Provincial People's Council and national defense and security work for the 2020-2025 term.

In addition, the Lao National Assembly delegation and Son La province exchanged experiences in performing legislative and supervisory functions, helping each other develop socio-economy, protect and build a peaceful and friendly border...
