The working group of the Ministry of Construction surveyed the current status of urban development in Tien Hai district.

On the morning of May 20, in Tien Hai district, a working delegation of the Ministry of Construction conducted a survey on the urban development situation of the expanded Tien Hai town area, in order to appraise the project to propose recognizing the expanded Tien Hai town as meeting the criteria of a type IV urban area and to work on the urban classification project. Comrade Nguyen Quang Hung, member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee received and worked with the delegation.

Tien Hai is a coastal district in the southeast of Thai Binh province, with a total natural area of over 230km², accounting for 14.58% of the province's natural area; population of over 218,000 people, population density of 942 people/km². The district has 31 communes and 1 town. Tien Hai district is located in Thai Binh Economic Zone, with an important strategic position in the socio-economic development of the province.

Tien Hai Town is the district capital of Tien Hai District, located in Thai Binh Economic Zone, 21km from Thai Binh City, 7.5km from Kien Xuong Town (Kien Xuong) and 16km from Diem Dien Town (Thai Thuy); is the economic, cultural and political center of the district.

According to the project, the expanded Tien Hai town area is a coastal urban area in the southeast of Thai Binh province, playing a role in linking Thai Binh's urban areas with other urban areas in the Northern Delta region. The project research area includes the entire natural area and population of Tien Hai town and 4 communes: Tay Giang, Tay Ninh, Dong Lam and Dong Co according to the project to adjust the general planning for the construction of Tien Hai town and its vicinity until 2030 according to the criteria of a type IV urban area (an area of about ^33km2 with 5 administrative units including 1 town and 4 communes, with a population of about 42,000 people).

At the working session, members of the working delegation, leaders of departments, branches and Tien Hai district discussed contents related to the project such as: legal basis, scope of research; survey and assessment of the urban status compared to the project documents; plan to improve urban quality, complete the remaining criteria before submitting to the National Appraisal Council.

Speaking at the meeting, comrade Nguyen Quang Hung, member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee analyzed and clarified to the working delegation a number of contents related to the Planning of Thai Binh province for the period 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050; emphasizing that the urban development of Thai Binh province is still slow and not really balanced with neighboring provinces and cities.

The Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee thanked the members of the working group for their interest in sharing many enthusiastic opinions on the project and requested the working group to continue to create conditions and support Thai Binh province and Tien Hai district in researching and implementing the project, soon recognizing the expanded Tien Hai town as meeting the criteria of a type IV urban area.

Based on the content of the project as well as the discussion and comments of the working group and delegates, the Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested Tien Hai district and the consulting unit to continue to receive, supplement and complete the project, and soon submit it to the National Appraisal Council for approval. In particular, it is necessary to review the achieved criteria and the unachieved criteria to have a plan to complete according to regulations, ensuring consistency and efficiency; Tien Hai district reviews the district planning, linking the development of Tien Hai town with the development of Thai Binh Economic Zone, industrial parks and tourist areas in the district.

Previously, the working group of the Ministry of Construction and the leaders of Tien Hai district conducted a field survey at a number of architectural, construction, cultural, commercial and service works; a number of typical traffic routes... in Tien Hai town and neighboring areas.
