Continuing the working trip to visit and wish a Happy New Year to DK1 Platforms and Con Dao District, on the morning of January 19, the working delegation of the Naval Region 2 Command led by Colonel Tran Hong Hai, Deputy Political Commissar of Naval Region 2, offered incense and paid tribute to martyrs at Hang Duong Cemetery, Con Dao District, Ba Ria - Vung Tau Province.
Also attending were representatives of the District Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee of Con Dao district and more than 40 officials and reporters from central and local press agencies.
In a solemn and respectful atmosphere, the delegation offered incense, flowers and observed a minute of silence to commemorate the heroic martyrs, patriots and revolutionaries who sacrificed their lives due to the prison regime during the 113 years of existence of the colonial prison in Con Dao.
After the ceremony, delegates offered incense at the Memorial, the tombs of late General Secretary Le Hong Phong, heroine Vo Thi Sau and martyrs at Hang Duong Cemetery.
Hang Duong Cemetery is the largest cemetery on the sacred land of Con Dao, the resting place of tens of thousands of revolutionary soldiers and Vietnamese patriots through many generations who were imprisoned and exiled, lasting from 1862 to 1975. Their steadfast and indomitable fighting spirit in prison has fueled the revolutionary movement of the entire Party, army and people, especially in the current cause of building and defending the Fatherland.
