The Fourth Industrial Revolution has brought about huge changes, not only in terms of technology but also in the way people interact and communicate. However, along with the benefits that digital media brings, there are also many challenges in terms of culture, ethics and security. In our country, along with the explosive development of information and communication technology, people's activities on social networks are becoming more and more popular and the number of users is increasing rapidly.
Digital media content is created and distributed on many different platforms, most notably on social networks such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, TikTok, YouTube... This also poses many challenges and urgent requirements for digital media content management, especially the issue of ensuring cultural values, ethics and legal regulations.
Lieutenant General, Associate Professor, Dr. Phan Xuan Tuy, Director of the People's Public Security Academy, acknowledged that one of the bright spots of the digital age is the ability to quickly and widely disseminate information, but at the same time, it also poses many potential risks to security and social order. Therefore, controlling and orienting digital media content is an urgent task to ensure the sustainable development of society.
“A large number of people who use the Internet and smartphones directly have been participating in the digital communication process and are exposed to many positive and negative interactions from digital communication. Among them, there are contents intentionally created to oppose the Party and the State in front of the people, intentionally created for profit, but there are also contents that unintentionally spread negative and unhealthy contents” - Associate Professor, Dr. Phan Xuan Tuy said.
To cope with the challenges of digital media, strict policies and measures to manage and control content on social networks are essential. At the same time, it is necessary to promoteeducation and propaganda on the responsible use of social networks, and encourage people to participate in building a healthy cyberspace. It is necessary to build a culture of digital ethics, create a healthy and sustainable media environment, and contribute to building a comprehensively developed society.
Associate Professor, Dr. Tran Thanh Giang, Deputy Director of the Academy of Journalism and Communication, said: “Continue to review and perfect legal regulations on Internet use and social network use, ensuring a fair, transparent legal environment, deterring and handling individuals and organizations that post bad and toxic news on social networks. Coordinate with the entities managing social networking sites abroad in the fight, handling and promptly removing information with bad and toxic content. Perfect the code of conduct on social networks, promote propaganda, and synchronously implement it in the community.”
