On the afternoon of October 2, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training said the incident occurred at Thach Ban High School (Long Bien District).
A male student "flirts" with a young female teacher in the classroom, witnessed by many students.
According to the school's report, the male student in the clip is TNMĐ, class 10A4, the teacher in the clip is MQT (born in 2001), a contract literature teacher at the school. The incident happened during the break between period 2 and period 3 on the morning of September 27, in the classroom of class 10A4. The student who filmed the clip is KTM, also in class 10A4.
As soon as the incident was reported, on the evening of September 30, the Board of Directors of Thach Ban High School quickly exchanged information with the Long Bien District Police, and also contacted the teacher in the clip to confirm the incident. The Board of Directors also discussed the incident with the homeroom teacher of class 10A4.
On the morning of October 1, the school board listened to the opinions of the students of class 10A4, worked with the teacher in the clip and representatives of the families of the students in the clip and the families of the students who filmed the clip. The school board also recorded the opinions of the homeroom teacher of class 10A4 commenting on the psychological characteristics and personalities of the students in the class, including 2 students involved in the incident.
After the meeting, the information was clarified as follows: student TNMĐ was an acquaintance of the teacher before. This student admitted that he had joked excessively with the teacher and did not realize that his behavior was inappropriate at that time. Student KTM (the student who filmed the clip) also realized that his behavior was wrong because at that time, he only thought that he filmed the clip to tease his friend.
Teacher admits lack of pedagogical skills
At the meeting, the parents of the two students involved in the incident were aware of their children's inappropriate behavior and completely agreed with the school's handling of the matter; committed to being more attentive in managing and educating their children, and at the same time hoped that the school would create conditions for their children to continue studying and practicing at school with peace of mind. The family of student TNMĐ committed to being ready to cooperate with the school to resolve the matter.
Teacher MQT wrote a report of the incident and a self-criticism, strictly acknowledging her shortcomings in allowing the incident to occur. At that time, teacher MQT reminded the students to stop their behavior. However, teacher MQT admitted that she lacked knowledge and skills in pedagogy, which is why the incident occurred.
The school has also temporarily suspended and assigned a substitute teacher to teach Ms. MQT while the incident is resolved. Based on the nature of the incident, the school will continue to review and discipline violators according to regulations, and do a good job of prevention to prevent similar incidents from happening again.
Sharing more with Thanh Nien reporter, a leader of Hanoi Department of Education and Training said that although this was just a rash and excessive joking action of the student, the standards of teachers and professional principles do not allow teachers to let students do such actions, even if it is just a joke. This is also a profound lesson for young teachers who are new to the profession.
