On the morning of May 30, the leader of the Department of Education and Training of Tam Nong District (Phu Tho) confirmed the incident occurred at Hien Quan Primary School. A representative of the People's Committee of Hien Quan Commune added that the beaten girl was a 5th grade student, assaulted by a 7th grade student on the morning of May 29.
"Hien Quan Commune Police and Tam Nong District Police have investigated the incident," said a representative of Hien Quan Commune People's Committee.
Mr. Le Trung Huyen, Chairman of Hien Quan Commune, said: "This is a very sad incident that happened in the locality. The commune government has coordinated with relevant agencies to visit the girl's family to grasp the situation, and found that there are no serious signs of her health and psychology. She is currently resting at home. We have instructed the family to monitor her carefully and promptly inform her if she shows any unusual signs so that the government and family can take timely support measures."

Immediately after the incident, officials from the Tam Nong District Department of Education and Training visited the family to gather information, visit and encourage the female student and her family. This unit also sent a written report to the Phu Tho Province Department of Education and Training, requesting that the authorities intervene and handle the matter.
On the evening of May 29, social media posted a video recording the scene of a girl being assaulted in the classroom. In the nearly 3-minute video, the girl was seen being grabbed by the hair, slapped repeatedly, forced to kneel, and smeared with dirt on her face by an older female student. Many of the girl’s classmates stood around and witnessed the incident.
The video quickly went viral and received hundreds of comments expressing sympathy for the girl and outrage at the violent act.
