Investigate 3 cases, prosecute 30 defendants related to Thuan An Group

Lieutenant Colonel Vu Thanh Tung, Deputy Director of the Department of Investigation Police on Corruption, Economic Crimes, and Smuggling (Ministry of Public Security) said that regarding the progress and results of the investigation into the case related to Thuan An Group Joint Stock Company, the Ministry of Public Security's Investigation Police Agency is currently investigating 3 cases, prosecuting a total of 30 defendants.

The three cases include:

The case of Violating regulations on bidding causing serious consequences; Giving bribes; Receiving bribes; Taking advantage of positions and powers to influence others for personal gain; Taking advantage of positions and powers while performing official duties occurred at Thuan An Group Joint Stock Company and related units; 22 defendants were prosecuted.

The Bribery and Bribery case occurred at the Ho Chi Minh City Urban Infrastructure Management Board project and related units; 4 defendants were prosecuted.

The Bribery and Bribery case occurred in Dak Lak province and related units; 4 defendants were prosecuted.

So far in these three cases, the police investigation agency has seized nearly 260 billion VND and 140,000 USD.

Regarding the results of the fight against economic crimes, corruption, and waste, Lieutenant Colonel Vu Thanh Tung said that in the first quarter of 2025, the police force investigating crimes of corruption, economics, and smuggling nationwide discovered and arrested 1,988 cases, 3,234 subjects committing crimes of corruption, economics, and smuggling, of which 1,766 cases, 2,797 subjects committed economic crimes; discovered and handled 222 cases, 437 subjects committing crimes of corruption and positions. The police department investigating crimes of corruption, economics, and smuggling alone prosecuted 9 new cases, 115 defendants.

Regarding crimes related to waste, from the beginning of 2025 to now, the Economic Police force has prosecuted 15 cases, 59 defendants (an increase of 50% in the number of cases and 34% in the number of defendants compared to the same period in 2024). In particular, the Economic Police Department has prosecuted a number of key cases that have attracted public attention, such as: The case of "Receiving bribes; Violating bidding regulations causing serious consequences" occurred at the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Hoang Dan Company and related units and localities; prosecuted 12 defendants, the subjects caused losses of over 230 billion VND.

The case of "Violating regulations on State asset management causing loss and waste" occurred at the Vicem Operation and Commercial Transaction Center building project of Vietnam Cement Corporation; prosecuted 4 defendants, initially determined that the subjects caused a loss of 310 billion VND, with the risk of wasting 1,245 billion VND.
