Many people sit in air-conditioned rooms at work and continue to use air conditioning when they get home. This habit makes them spend most of their day in air-conditioned rooms.

Using air conditioning too much for a long time can cause the following health problems:

Sitting in a cold room for a long time can cause some health problems such as dry eyes, headaches or allergic rhinitis.

Respiratory problems

In office buildings, poor ventilation can cause people in the building to suffer from sick building syndrome, a condition that causes a range of symptoms including headaches, dizziness, dry cough, hoarseness, allergies, nasal irritation and other symptoms, according to the UK medical website News-Medical Net .

Not only that, too much exposure to cold air from air conditioning can cause changes in the respiratory tract, thereby increasing the risk of respiratory diseases, such as bronchitis and asthma.

Dry eyes

Air conditioning significantly reduces the humidity in the air. The eyes need moisture to maintain the tear film on the surface of the eyeball. This condition makes dry eye symptoms worse. Dry eyes will cause irritation, itching, blurred vision, and even infection.

Headache

People who stay in air-conditioned rooms almost 24 hours a day, 7 days a week are at high risk of headaches, even migraines. Some research evidence shows that about 3% of people who work in air-conditioned and poor air quality environments may suffer from headaches 1-3 days a month.

Allergy

The constant flow of air from an air conditioner causes the unit to become a breeding ground for allergens like dust and bacteria. These allergens can trigger allergic rhinitis, which causes symptoms like itchy nose, sneezing, runny nose, headaches, sinus pain, and more, according to News-Medical Net.
