Representatives of Ho Chi Minh City government and Ministry of Education and Training at the ceremony to recognize members of the UNESCO Global Network of Learning Cities
On the evening of March 30, UNESCO awarded a certificate recognizing Ho Chi Minh City as a member of the Global Network of Learning Cities. Currently, the UNESCO Global Network of Learning Cities has 65 member cities from 39 countries and territories around the world.
According to UNESCO, Ho Chi Minh City has many favorable conditions to apply innovative methods, and has a lot of potential in terms of ideas and creativity. One of the city's recent initiatives that is highly appreciated is the development and approval of a set of criteria for happy schools. The happy school model will be the focus of educational innovation, placing happiness as a key factor to improve the quality of learning.
Also on this occasion, Mr. Duong Anh Duc, Vice Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, launched the action program to build "UNESCO Global Learning City for the period 2024 - 2030" in Ho Chi Minh City.
Accordingly, the city continues to effectively implement contents and activities, while promoting the combined strength of the entire political system in supporting and mobilizing resources to promote lifelong learning opportunities for people in the city.
One of the recent initiatives of Ho Chi Minh City that is highly appreciated is the development and approval of a set of criteria for happy schools.
At the same time, the city continues to make fundamental changes in building a learning city and a learning society. Ensuring that by 2030 all citizens have equal opportunities to access an open, diverse, flexible, interconnected, and modern education system with many models, methods, and training levels. Thereby contributing to promoting human resource development, especially high-quality human resources to meet the requirements of international integration. The city builds mechanisms and policies to support and promote activities to build a learning city and lifelong learning. Focus resources, mobilize the participation and coordination of organizations and individuals in promoting lifelong learning and building a learning city and a learning society.
To create stronger changes in building a learning city, improving people's knowledge, training human resources, nurturing talents, and ensuring equality in learning for all people, the city's leaders requested the Department of Education and Training and departments, branches, sectors, and organizations to continue to thoroughly grasp and effectively implement the Party and State's policies and guidelines on education, training, encouraging learning, encouraging talents, building a learning society, and a learning city.
