The Ho Chi Minh City Command was assigned by Military Region 7 to organize the selection and training of the block. To select 92 girls right from the grassroots level, the selection was very strict. The female guerrillas were aged 18 - 27, with health type 1 and type 2, height from 1.62 - 1.7m, with an education level from high school or higher. Many female guerrillas were civil servants, administrative officials, or university students who volunteered to submit their applications, ready to accept the mission. All were unmarried. Initially, 120 female militiamen were selected from 22 districts, Thu Duc City and were organized into 1 company consisting of 3 platoons, 12 squads to participate in the 3-phase training program. Phase 1 and 2 from January 9 to March 16, in Ho Chi Minh City with training in command, non-gun and gun teams for individuals, groups, teams, formations and formation blocks. At the end of phase 1, 106 female militia were selected to participate in phase 2. Phase 2 was practicing music matching with formations of 1 row, 2 rows, 3 rows, 5 rows across and training the whole block; at the same time focusing on editing details of hands, eyes, face... At the end of this phase, 92 people were selected and are in Hanoi to train with other blocks of the Army. Although they are only "seasonal" female guerrillas, they are not inferior to male officers, each movement such as: waving hands, walking evenly, stopping, changing feet while walking, carrying a gun and walking evenly, changing to carrying a gun and walking evenly, saluting and stopping saluting... were all performed skillfully.
OVERCOMING THE SUN, OVERCOMING THE RAIN, PRACTICING ENTHUSIASTICALLY
As one of the 6 female guerrillas of the Military Flag Team, Pham Bui Tram Anh (21 years old, District 12), currently a 3rd year student at Van Hien University, sweat soaked her back during practice but still smiled brightly. With a gentle Southern accent and proud eyes, Tram Anh told the story of her journey from applying to being officially selected.

In early January, she received the notice and tried to register but did not dare to hold out much hope. After a few days, she was surprised to know that she was selected. "At first, I did not believe it, so I asked the commander if it was true that I was selected. When I got to the City Command, I still thought it would be difficult because I was too skinny. But when I got here, it was like a dream," Tram Anh recounted. Tram Anh and 91 female guerrillas spent nearly 2 months "exposing themselves to the sun" in Ho Chi Minh City before going to Hanoi in mid-March and training with other parade groups at the National Military Training Center 4. The weather in Hanoi is humid and rainy, with unpredictable rain and sunshine, but Tram Anh and her teammates quickly adapted to the intensity of the training, "in Ho Chi Minh City, it is literally hot because of the weather, but out here we feel the heat from the atmosphere preparing for the 70th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu Victory," she shared.

Tram Anh decided to put her studies on hold to participate in the event and the school agreed and created favorable conditions. Before the departure date, she also promised the school that she would complete her tasks as well as her studies. Taking advantage of her free time in the evening, she always tried to call home to chat and show her mother pictures of her daughter practicing. The mother also diligently read newspapers, followed videos and pictures on social networks about the female guerilla team, thanks to that, Tram Anh's mother completely supported and encouraged her daughter.

Nguyen Ngoc Nhu Huynh (27 years old, currently working at the Vietnam Fatherland Front in Ward 8, Phu Nhuan District) shared her pride and honor when she joined the female guerilla group for the first time. Nhu Huynh confided that her grandfather participated in the resistance war against France and the US, and was a former prisoner in Con Dao for 15 years, so since childhood she has been attached to the stories her father and grandfather told about the national spirit. Working on the front line in the ward, the announcement of the selection of the female guerilla team was received by Nhu Huynh quite early, and with the support of the ward leaders, she decided to register. After many rounds of selection from health, height, background, political ideology... Nhu Huynh was selected. When hearing the news, Nhu Huynh's parents immediately agreed and supported her to put aside her work to participate in training. "This is the first time I have been to Hanoi, at first it was cold and rainy, but after the weather stabilized, we gradually overcame it and got used to the lifestyle and training of the army," said Nhu Huynh. In the morning, practice starts from 7-11am, in the afternoon from 1:30pm to 4pm, to make the formation of the group practice most evenly and beautifully, in addition to the practice time during the day, in the evening the girls from the South often practice more, showing each other difficult movements. 92 girls from 21 districts, towns and cities do not know each other but talk, live together, help each other, making them like sisters in one family. "Being able to represent the female guerrillas of the South, we have set ourselves a goal of completing the assigned tasks excellently, overcoming the sun, overcoming the rain, practicing enthusiastically to achieve the best results", female guerrillas Phan Le Quynh Nhu said loudly. At the first practice session, Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Tan Cuong, Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army, Deputy Minister of National Defense said that unlike other parade groups, the female guerrillas of the South had a period of practice in the hot weather in Ho Chi Minh City, when they went to the North, it was the right time for rain and humidity. To ensure that the female militia in particular and the soldiers and officers participating in the parade in general have the best physical strength and spirit, the leaders of the Ministry of National Defense have directed to create all conditions for accommodation, diet and necessities. With the enthusiasm and determination of youth, promoting the tradition of bravery and resilience, the female guerrillas have constantly tried, overcome difficulties, basically fulfilled their tasks, contributing to spreading and brightening the image of Southern women.
