Eliminating direct admission based on international language certificates, doubling admission combinations, and adjusting assessment tests are notable new points in the 2025 public security recruitment guidelines recently issued by the Ministry of Public Security.
Double the number of admission combinations
This year, the Ministry of Public Security expanded the admission combinations for public security schools from 7 combinations in 2024 to 15 combinations. The list of specific admission combinations is as follows:
Candidates with international language certificates are not admitted directly.
In 2025, the Ministry of Public Security will continue to use 3 admission methods. Method 1 directly admits excellent students who have achieved high scores in national and international excellent student competitions according to the current admission regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training and regulations of the Ministry of Public Security. Method 2 combines international language certificates with the results of the assessment test of the Ministry of Public Security. Method 3 combines the results of the high school graduation exam with the results of the assessment test of the Ministry of Public Security.
In method 2, the Ministry of Public Security abolished the regulation of direct admission of candidates with international language certificates equivalent to IELTS (Academic) with a score of 7.5 or higher as in previous years, and converted it to the equivalent of the score the candidate obtained through the international language certificate (the converted score will gradually increase corresponding to the candidate's certificate exam results).
Admission requirements require candidates to have an IELTS (Academic) certificate of 5.5 or higher (equivalent to level B2 according to the European Reference Framework) or another international foreign language certificate of equivalent value; academic performance in grades 10, 11, 12 of good or higher; average foreign language score of all high school years of 7 points or higher.
Adjustments in assessment
In method 3, the Ministry of Public Security adjusts the 2025 assessment test to be consistent with the 2018 general education program. In 2025, the Ministry of Public Security's assessment test includes 4 test codes. The total test time is 180 minutes in the form of a written test. Candidates choose 1 of 4 test codes to take the test:
The admission score is still the total score of the 3 subjects in the admission group (accounting for 40%) and the assessment test score of the Ministry of Public Security converted to a 30-point scale (accounting for 60%) rounded to 2 decimal places, plus regional priority points, subject priority points according to the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training, bonus points according to the regulations of the Ministry of Public Security.
The calculation formula is as follows: Admission score = (M1+M2+M3)*2/5+BTBCA*3/5+DC. In which M1, M2, M3 are the scores of 3 subjects in the admission subject group, BTBCA is the score of the assessment test of the Ministry of Public Security, DC is the bonus point./.
