Many buildings at Hai Duong Provincial General Hospital have deteriorated, and the hospital is severely overcrowded.

According to the leaders of Thanh Binh Ward People's Committee (Hai Duong City), the ward distributed 23 questionnaires to representatives of agencies, organizations, individuals, and the community regarding the adjustment of the detailed construction plan for the Provincial General Hospital. The results showed that 100% of respondents agreed with the adjusted detailed plan for the Provincial General Hospital.

Some recommendations emphasized the need to ensure environmental hygiene and public safety during construction; and to guarantee labor and traffic safety during the project's implementation. Previously, from October 30th to November 14th, 2024, the People's Committee of Thanh Binh Ward publicly posted the revised detailed planning document for the construction of Hai Duong Provincial General Hospital, at a scale of 1/500, at the ward's People's Committee office.

The Provincial General Hospital currently has a capacity of 500 beds. According to the Provincial Investment and Construction Project Management Board, the project was designed and built in 2004 and put into operation in 2010. To date, many parts of the building have seriously deteriorated, and the fire prevention and fighting system is inadequate.

The hospital is severely overloaded. Therefore, it needs to be expanded to increase its capacity to 1,000 beds to meet the demand for medical examination, treatment, and improved healthcare for the people. Adjusting the detailed construction plan for Hai Duong Provincial General Hospital at a scale of 1/500 is essential.

In April 2024, the Provincial People's Council decided on the investment plan for the construction of several building blocks of the Provincial General Hospital. In early October 2024, the Provincial People's Committee approved the results of the architectural design competition for the Hai Duong Provincial General Hospital. The approved design includes changes to the spatial organization, traffic flow, architecture, construction scale, and construction area of ​​the buildings in the approved detailed plan.
