Adjust and supplement many communes in region I in the provinces of Tuyen Quang, Thai Nguyen, Lao Cai, Quang Ninh

According to Decision No. 698/QD-TTg adjusting and supplementing the list of communes in Region III, Region II, Region I in ethnic minority and mountainous areas in the period of 2021 - 2025, Quan Chu commune, Dai Tu district, Thai Nguyen province is also not in Region I due to its merger into Quan Chu town, Dai Tu district, Thai Nguyen province. Recently, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang signed Decision No. 698/QD-TTg of the Prime Minister on approving the adjustment, supplementation and correction of the list of communes in regions III, II, I in ethnic minority and mountainous areas for the period 2021 - 2025.

According to this decision, the adjusted communes include:

- Thang Quan commune (Yen Son district, Tuyen Quang province) is no longer in area I due to administrative boundary adjustment to establish Yen Son town.

- Quan Chu commune (Dai Tu district, Thai Nguyen province) is no longer in area I due to its merger into Quan Chu town.

At the same time, adjust and supplement Yen Son town (Yen Son district, Tuyen Quang province) and Quan Chu town (Dai Tu district, Thai Nguyen province) in region I.

Also in this decision, some commune and district names are adjusted due to the arrangement of administrative units at district and commune levels. Specifically:

- Tinh Bien district becomes Tinh Bien town, An Giang province;

- Chon Thanh district becomes Chon Thanh town, Binh Phuoc province;

- Yen Lam commune, Yen Dinh district, Thanh Hoa province becomes Yen Lam town.

- Phuc Son commune and Minh Quang commune of Chiem Hoa district, Tuyen Quang province become Phuc Son commune and Minh Quang commune of Lam Binh district.

Along with that, the Prime Minister's decision also adds to the list of communes in Region I in ethnic minority and mountainous areas for the period 2021 - 2025.

- Add Binh Minh ward and Xuan Tang ward, Lao Cai city, Lao Cai province to region I.

- Add Ba Che town, Ba Che district, Quang Ninh province to region I.

The Prime Minister assigned the Ethnic Committee and the People's Committees of the provinces: Tuyen Quang, Thai Nguyen, Dien Bien, An Giang, Binh Phuoc, Thanh Hoa, Lao Cai, Quang Ninh to take full responsibility for the information, data, and documents submitted for appraisal and approval of adjustments, supplements, and corrections to the list of communes in regions III, II, and I in ethnic minority and mountainous areas for the period 2021 - 2025 mentioned above.

Accordingly, the application of regimes and policies in the areas of district and commune-level administrative units approved in this Decision shall comply with the provisions of Resolution No. 35/2023/UBTVQH15 dated July 12, 2023 of the Standing Committee of the National Assembly and relevant legal provisions.

Additional expenses incurred to implement social security policies issued by the Central Government (if any) shall be implemented in accordance with the Prime Minister's decision on the principle of targeted support from the central budget to local budgets to implement social security policies issued by the Central Government in the period 2022 - 2025.
