On April 11, in Da Lat City (Lam Dong), the National Agricultural Extension Center (Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development) organized an agricultural extension forum; according to statistics, by 2018, the whole country had only 495,000 hectares of organic agriculture (4.1 times higher than in 2016). This is an extremely modest number compared to the 71 million hectares of organic farming worldwide (2021 data) and compared to 11.53 million hectares of agricultural land in Vietnam.

The forum was attended by a large number of experts, managers, representatives of cooperatives and enterprises in many provinces and cities across the country, with the topic "Linking the chain in organic agricultural production towards increasing value and sustainable development, adapting to climate change".
According to the National Agricultural Extension Center, organic farming in Vietnam has been applied by farmers for thousands of years. In recent years, some chain linkage models in agricultural production have also brought high efficiency such as the model "Building a cooperative model linking organic rice production according to the value chain in some northern provinces" with a scale of 570 hectares; the model "Intensive organic tea cultivation, linking according to the value chain in Lao Cai province" with a scale of 20 hectares; the model "Application of biotechnology products to build a model linking production and consumption of vegetables according to the organic direction" with a scale of 125 hectares...
Organic cattle farm in Don Duong district (Lam Dong)
In Lam Dong alone, there are currently over 1,500 hectares certified as organic (of which the area certified according to international standards is 1,308 hectares, certified according to Vietnamese standards is 270 hectares. By the end of 2023, Lam Dong province will also support the construction of 10 chains linking, producing and consuming organic products and bringing higher profits to people than usual. Of which, there are 4 chains linking the production and consumption of vegetables, tubers, fruits, medicinal herbs; 2 chains linking the production and consumption of organic coffee; 1 chain linking the consumption of mushroom products; 3 chains linking the production and purchasing of macadamia nuts and rice.
Prof. Dr. Dao Thanh Van, Vice President of the Vietnam Organic Agriculture Association, assessed that the organic agricultural production linkage model brings benefits to both enterprises and farmers, playing an important role in the process of rural development and modernization. Ms. Vu Thi Hai, National Agricultural Extension Center affirmed that in organic agricultural production, linkage is the key to developing a modern agriculture, ensuring the harmony of interests of the participating entities. Specifically, organizing organic agricultural production according to the chain can be implemented according to horizontal linkage (farmer - farmer, cooperative - cooperative, enterprise - enterprise) or vertical linkage (farmer - cooperative - enterprise). Thereby helping to increase value and sustainable development for both the livestock and crop sectors.
