Master, Doctor Nguyen Trong Tai, Department of General Trauma Surgery at Viet Duc Hospital said the patient was admitted to the hospital with pale skin and mucous membranes, and injuries from head to toe.

Specifically, Ms. TTC, 37 years old, from Bac Giang, was using a phone that was charging when it suddenly exploded. Many injuries caused the patient's jaw and face to be deformed, and her eyeballs to rupture. A 1cm piece of plastic pierced the trachea, not to mention many soft tissue injuries to the chest, abdomen, arms, and legs...
In particular, the patient's right hand (the hand holding the phone) was severely damaged, with all 5 fingers completely crushed and the skin peeled off close to the bone.
Doctors at the hospital, together with the general orthopedic trauma surgeon, sutured the trachea and facial wounds, removed foreign objects from large wounds, and cleaned the remaining wounds for the patient. With the injury to the patient's eyes, Viet Duc Hospital invited a team of doctors from the Central Eye Hospital to directly perform surgery and remove the ruptured right eyeball.
After a consultation between the microplastic and orthopedic surgeon and experts, it was determined that the patient had to have the entire stump of his right hand finger amputated due to complete crushing.
Three days after the accident, Dr. Tai said that by the morning of August 9, the patient's condition was relatively stable. However, the patient's limb functions were limited, especially the ability to work with his right hand was almost gone.
According to Viet Duc Hospital, each year it receives about 2-3 patients with injuries due to the habit of using the phone while charging, however this is the most serious case, affecting the function of the most organs. Doctors recommend that people absolutely should not use the phone while plugged into a fixed charger or a backup charger.
