The temple and tomb of Mr. Ngo Thu are important works, closely associated with the history of formation and development of Phu Bai land since the 16th century.
Mr. Ngo Thu (Ngo Phu Quan, the local guardian spirit) had great merit in reclaiming land and establishing villages. According to historical documents, in 1558, when Lord Nguyen Hoang came to guard Thuan Hoa, Mr. Ngo Thu's family also followed and assisted and began to reclaim and expand the land of Phu Bai.
With strategic vision and profound understanding of geography, he organized mineral exploitation, developed agriculture, established an army to protect villages and contributed to consolidating the power of Lord Nguyen in the Nam Kinh citadel area.
Ngo Thu Temple was built in 1600 on the foundation of his old house when he was alive. After many renovations, the building still retains its ancient and solemn features. His tomb is located on a land area of over 16 hectares, with a special feng shui position of "Dragon facing Tiger". Currently, his Temple and tomb still preserve thousands of valuable Han and Nom documents, such as: horizontal lacquered boards, parallel sentences, royal decrees...
The recognition of Ngo Thu Temple and Tomb also contributes to preserving and promoting the unique cultural and historical values of the locality.
