Attending were Member of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Nguyen Chi Tai, representatives of leaders of departments, branches, service and tourism units; representatives of leaders of VGBC, Gbike Group, Viet Personal Mobility Company Limited - VietPM.

Not only a communication activity, this event marks a strategic turning point in shaping the heritage tourism model associated with conservation and sustainable development. A pioneering Hue - a heritage city is taking the lead in solving the problem between economic growth and preserving historical and cultural values.

The highlight of the program was the Thai Hoa Palace - an iconic architectural work of the Nguyen Dynasty, officially receiving the LOTUS green building certification, awarded by the Vietnam Green Building Council. This is the first time a cultural relic belonging to the UNESCO world heritage in Vietnam has achieved green building standards.

Over the course of three years, from November 2021 to November 2024, the Thai Hoa Palace restoration process will be carried out strictly using traditional materials, combining modern conservation techniques, optimizing energy efficiency and limiting emissions - all to restore the building while ensuring its originality and meeting sustainable criteria.

“We appreciate Hue’s commitment to green thinking in heritage conservation,” said Douglas Lee Snyders, Executive Director of VGBC. “LOTUS is not just a certification, but an affirmation that heritage is not just the past, but also the future, if properly protected.”

Also within the framework of the event, the GCOO brand of Gbike Group (Korea) was honored as the first “LOTUS Green Service Provider” in Vietnam in the field of heritage tourism. GCOO also donated 20 new generation electric bicycles to the Hue Monuments Conservation Center. These electric bicycles will be put into service at the Imperial City, providing visitors with a quiet, friendly, flexible sightseeing experience, while contributing to reducing air pollution and noise in the relic area.

According to Mr. Jongsoo Yoon - CEO of Gbike, this partnership is not just a simple cooperation, but also a long-term commitment of Gbike in accompanying Hue to realize the vision of developing a green and sustainable urban tourism. Gbike aims to promote the model of "bicycle city" - where clean and friendly public transport will become a typical image of Hue in the eyes of international tourists.

At the event, the community cycling campaign "Hue - Pioneer in developing Green Heritage Tourism & Bicycle City" took place - through the Imperial Citadel area and iconic routes of Hue, spreading the message of green transformation, sustainable tourism development, community responsibility and the relentless efforts of Hue city in the journey towards "National Green City by 2030". The activity attracted the participation of more than 100 delegates including city leaders, businessmen, students...

Director of the Hue Monuments Conservation Center Hoang Viet Trung said, “Hue - Developing Green Heritage Tourism & Bicycle City” demonstrates how Hue integrates conservation, tourism and environmental education in the same in-depth activity. This is a model for a sustainable heritage development strategy.”

With the message "Sustainability from the roots - Reviving heritage, creating a green future", Hue not only preserves heritage, but is nurturing heritage in the breath of a green, humane and inspiring city.

Aiming to put green transportation into long-term service, GCOO will deploy 13 electric bicycle stations in key areas of Hue City in the first phase, operating from April 20, 2025. It is expected that 140 bicycles will be put into operation at locations such as Tu Do Stadium, Hue City People's Committee, Ho Chi Minh Museum, Kim Long Park... After completing the inspection, this electric bicycle system will continue to be expanded to serve tourists and residents.
