Malaysia's 17th King Sultan Ibrahim was officially crowned on January 31, marking a significant moment in the history of the Southeast Asian country's constitutional monarchy. The solemn ceremony took place at the Royal Palace and was broadcast live nationwide.
Sultan Ibrahim was born on November 22, 1958 in Johor state. He ascended the throne as Sultan of Johor on January 23, 2010 and was officially crowned on March 23, 2015.
The Sultan of Johor was elected as the 17th King of Malaysia at the 263rd special meeting of the Council of Malay Rulers on 27 October 2023. Sultan Ibrahim succeeded the 16th King Al-Sultan Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah after his five-year term officially ended.
