Maintain stable, safe and continuous power supply for 27 northern provinces/cities
In the first quarter of 2025, the Northern Power Corporation (EVNNPC) has maintained stable, safe and continuous power supply to 27 northern provinces/cities, serving socio-economic development and meeting people's living needs.
In particular, EVNNPC has successfully completed the task of ensuring electricity for important events such as the Lunar New Year of At Ty, the 2025 Spring festivals, the 95th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of Vietnam (February 3, 1930 - February 3, 2025), as well as serving well the work of flooding and irrigation of the 2024 - 2025 Winter-Spring crop in the midland provinces and the Northern Delta.
In the context of continued increase in electricity demand, the total commercial electricity output of the Corporation in the first quarter of 2025 reached 22,889 billion kWh, an increase of 5.95% over the same period last year and reaching 21.02% of the 2025 plan assigned by Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN). The load structure continues to remain stable and reasonable, in which the industrial - construction sector accounts for 64.16%, up 6.41%; consumer management accounts for 28.51%, up 3.44%; trade - services accounts for 2.79%, up 10.11%; agriculture, forestry and fishery accounts for 1.88%, up 20.08% and other activities account for 2.65%, up 9.67% over the same period in 2024.
Strengthening inspection, review and maintenance of the power grid before the hot season of 2025
Many local Power Companies have achieved high output growth, notably Ninh Binh (13.77%), Ha Tinh (12.58%), Hung Yen (12.45%), Ha Nam (12.32%), Thanh Hoa (11.33%), Nghe An (11.03%)... Along with ensuring output growth, the Corporation continues to do well in reducing power loss, reaching 3.33%, down 0.03% compared to the same period in 2024 and 0.67% lower than the plan assigned by EVN, contributing to improving the efficiency of power system operation and optimizing technical indicators.
To promote digital transformation in its fields of operation, EVNNPC has developed a multi-channel customer care ecosystem (website npc.com.vn, EVNNPC app, chatbot, EVNNPC Facebook...), helping customers easily look up bill information, meter readings and electricity consumption. At the same time, EVNNPC encourages customers to use non-cash payment methods such as mobile banking, internet banking, e-wallets and automatic payments through banks/intermediary organizations.
EVNNPC's power saving activities have also achieved positive results when the Corporation has implemented the Earth Hour Campaign 2025 with the message "Green Shift - Green Future", along with many community activities to raise awareness of energy saving and environmental protection. Notably, in the first quarter of 2025, the total saved electricity output reached 530.66 million kWh, equivalent to 2.35% compared to commercial electricity, of which the industrial production sector saved 310.92 million kWh, accounting for a large proportion. EVNNPC also organized the 2025 Customer Conference at 27 affiliated Power Companies, discussing solutions for economical and efficient electricity use, calling on large customers to participate in the non-commercial load adjustment program and encouraging businesses and households to install rooftop solar power, contributing to reducing pressure on the power system, saving costs and protecting the environment.
Propaganda on electricity saving in schools
Regarding investment and construction, as of March 31, 2025, EVNNPC has started 11/76 projects, reaching 14.5% of the annual plan; completed energizing 29/113 projects, of which 6 projects exceeded the quarterly schedule, reaching 25.7% of the plan assigned by EVN. At the same time, the Corporation has approved 7 feasibility studies and 6 technical designs, creating an important premise to accelerate investment progress, improve grid capacity, and be ready to provide stable and safe electricity for socio-economic development needs in 27 provinces and cities in the North.
Encourage investment in rooftop solar power installation
In the remaining 9 months of 2025, EVNNPC will continue to deploy synchronous solutions to provide safe and stable electricity for socio-economic development and daily life of people in the Northern provinces, especially during the peak months of the dry season and important events of the country. The Corporation requires units to accelerate the progress of key medium-voltage and 110kV investment projects, while strengthening the inspection and maintenance of electrical equipment, especially distribution stations and high-load lines. The Corporation will also continue to closely coordinate with localities in protecting the safety corridor of the power grid, as well as promoting and mobilizing people to participate in electricity saving programs.
To promote digital transformation in its fields of operation, EVNNPC will continue to develop and improve online customer care platforms, encourage people and businesses to use electronic payment tools, automatic payments through banks/payment intermediaries cooperating with EVNNPC. At the same time, the Corporation will effectively implement Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW dated December 22, 2024 of the Politburo on breakthroughs in science, technology, innovation and national digital transformation, actively apply new technologies to power system operations, improve customer service quality and optimize operational efficiency.
Grid maintenance before the 2025 hot season
EVNNPC encourages people and businesses in the North to invest in rooftop solar power to reduce electricity costs and protect the environment. Using renewable energy from the sun helps reduce dependence on the grid and at the same time contributes to protecting natural resources. EVNNPC is committed to continuing to support and provide preferential policies for customers using rooftop solar power.
In the context of high electricity demand in the summer, EVNNPC calls on customers, offices and production facilities to join hands to save and use electricity efficiently. Specifically, unnecessary electrical equipment should be turned off and the use of high-capacity equipment should be limited during peak hours from 10:30 to 14:30 and from 17:00 to 23:00 every day. At the same time, customers should pay attention to using air conditioners at 26°C or higher and combine them with fans to save energy. These measures not only help reduce electricity costs but also help reduce the load on the power system.
From now until the end of 2025, EVNNPC will organize customer appreciation activities to deeply thank customers for their companionship and trust in the past time. These activities are not only to express gratitude, but also to encourage customers to continue participating in electricity saving programs, contributing to the goal of stable electricity supply and sustainable environmental protection.
