Bac Lieu Electricity: Ensuring electricity supply in the dry season in the province

The second quarter of each year is the most stressful time for electricity supply nationwide due to the continuous occurrence of severe heat waves lasting over a large area. High temperatures cause the demand for electricity for production and daily life to increase dramatically. To ensure the best electricity supply during this time, Bac Lieu Electricity Company has implemented many solutions to provide sufficient, safe and stable electricity to serve the socio-economic development and daily life of people in the province.

ENSURING ENOUGH ELECTRICITY DEMAND

Analyzing the advantages and disadvantages that affect the electricity supply situation, especially when the peak of the dry season comes (from April to July), in which the difficulties mentioned are the phenomenon of severe heat that will affect hydropower sources and the demand for electricity also increases, causing difficulties for the Electricity industry. Regarding advantages, Bac Lieu has renewable energy sources such as wind power (total capacity of 469.2 MW), solar power (total capacity of 147.2 MW) which have contributed to reducing pressure on the national electricity source. The majority of customers have been interested in using electricity economically and effectively, which has also contributed to limiting the situation of sudden load increases during the dry months. The application of advanced technologies also contributes to the effectiveness of management, operation and electricity supply.

In order to better serve customers with electricity supply, Bac Lieu Electricity Company has implemented a number of solutions such as: Closely following the 2025 electricity supply plan approved by the Provincial People's Committee; implementing the load adjustment program (DR) with 89/89 large customers and negotiating with 76/76 industrial production customers to shift capacity and production time to ensure capacity during peak hours. Focusing on operation management, monitoring daily operating parameters to promptly detect and handle defects, preventing grid failures. Implementing projects to renovate, upgrade and repair the grid with a total investment of up to 838.8 billion VND.

In addition, the Provincial Electricity Company also coordinates with the Department of Industry and Trade, Bac Lieu Newspaper, Provincial Radio and Television Station and Radio Stations of districts, towns and cities to propagate the content of safe, economical and efficient use of electricity; post propaganda content on the Company's website, on LED light boards at the Company's headquarters and Power Companies; send propaganda messages via Zalo, EVNSPC Customer Service App, distribute leaflets, etc.

RECOMMENDATIONS FOR CUSTOMERS TO USE ELECTRICITY SAFELY AND ECONOMICALLY DURING THE DRY SEASON

To use electricity safely, economically and effectively, Bac Lieu Electricity Company recommends that customers apply measures, including checking the entire electrical wiring system in the house. If the wires are found to be peeled, too small, or cracked, they must be replaced immediately; the joints on the electrical wires must be tightened and sealed with insulating tape; and a circuit breaker (automatic circuit breaker) must be installed to protect the electrical safety of the family.

When leaving the house, check and disconnect unnecessary electrical equipment from the power source; do not install or place electrical equipment and appliances that generate heat such as light bulbs, irons, electric stoves on flammable objects such as wood, paper, foam, etc. to prevent fire; do not connect electricity arbitrarily, do not use many high-capacity electrical equipment in the same outlet. When purchasing new equipment, choose equipment with energy-saving certification labels of 4 stars or higher (the more stars, the more energy-saving); turn off electrical equipment when not needed; set the air conditioner temperature to 26 ⁰ C or higher, do not turn the air conditioner on/off continuously, turn off the circuit breaker after turning off the machine. Limit the use of many electrical equipment at the same time during peak hours (from 9:30 to 11:30 and from 17:00 to 20:00).
