Dien Khanh: Women join hands to build new countryside

Implementing environmental criteria in building advanced new rural areas, in 2016, Dien Son commune implemented a self-managed waste collection model. Environmental sanitation costs for each family range from 8,000 to 12,000 VND/month, depending on whether the house is in an alley or on the street. To increase the rate of participation, from 2018 to present, the Women's Union of the commune has registered to carry out the task of mobilizing the families of officials and members to maintain environmental sanitation and participate in paying fees. When it was first implemented, only about 50% of households registered to pay monthly fees. Therefore, at meetings and activities at branches and clubs, the Women's Union of the commune has promoted sanitation and paid fees. At the same time, it has gone to each house to mobilize households to participate. Thanks to that, up to now, more than 95% of households have paid annual environmental sanitation fees.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Huong (Tay 1 village, Dien Son commune) shared: “My family pays environmental sanitation fees and throws garbage on time, in the right place so that the garbage truck can collect it twice a week. Since the implementation of centralized garbage collection, I have seen that the village roads and alleys are cleaner. Therefore, my family and many surrounding households pay the fee all year round”. In addition, the Women's Union of the commune has deployed the model "Women's Union 5 no 3 clean to build new rural areas" at Union 1 since 2022. The model has 20 members, meets periodically every 3 months and implements activities such as: Mobilizing members to classify waste at home, throw garbage in the right place; turning garbage into money... The Union also works with local organizations to implement "Bright - green - clean - beautiful" routes, contributing to changing the face of the countryside.

The Women's Union of Dien An commune has carried out propaganda and mobilized members and people to participate in health insurance, social insurance and donated health insurance to women in difficult circumstances. Up to now, the rate of members participating in health insurance in the commune has reached 95%, contributing to the locality maintaining the commune meeting the advanced NTM standards. The Union has also established the model "Building a family of 5 yes, 3 clean" associated with implementing the criteria for building an advanced NTM. Every Saturday and Sunday, 20 members of the model and women's union members of Phu An Nam 3 village maintain the campaign to clean and take care of the "Flower Road" made by women. Each year, each women's union branch helps from 1 to 5 member households to meet the 8 criteria of "Family of 5 no, 3 clean", "5 yes, 3 clean".

In addition, the Women's Union of Dien An commune also implemented the "Environmental Self-Management Route"; propagated to members to preserve the green, clean and beautiful environment; mobilized 203 households to grow clean vegetables, trees, and flowers at home, creating a clean living environment; mobilized families to classify waste at home... At the same time, coordinated with benefactors, departments, branches, and local organizations to build Great Solidarity houses for 2 poor and near-poor members; maintained fundraising activities to grant livelihoods and scholarships to women and children in difficult circumstances; maintained the "Rattan Chair Weaving Women's Group", creating regular jobs for 14 women; coordinated with units to introduce vocational training and create jobs for 65 women... Thanks to that, the lives of members' households gradually stabilized, striving to develop the economy .

Ms. Pham Thi Hoa - President of the Women's Union of Dien Khanh district said that in the past time, the unions at all levels in the district have established and maintained the activities of 34 clubs "Family of 5 no, 3 clean", "Building happy families", "Women protecting the environment", "Women model of preventing and combating plastic waste"; 31 "Trusted addresses"; 42 self-managed women's roads, flower roads, flag roads; 14 branches of "5 no, 3 clean to build new rural areas"... with more than 1,000 members participating. The implementation of models, works, and women's work has contributed to the locality joining hands to implement the criteria in building new rural areas and advanced new rural areas. In the coming time, the unions at all levels will step up propaganda work, mobilizing cadres and members to well implement the new rural construction program, associated with the emulation movements of the union to join the local Party Committee and government to build a rich, beautiful and civilized homeland.
