Although it is the poorest border district of Dien Bien province and also one of the poorest districts in the country, for many years, Nam Po district has always paid attention to and focused on investment and care for education.

This year, Nam Po district has 475 candidates taking the exam at two locations: Cha Cang High School and Nam Po District Boarding High School for Ethnic Minorities. The preparation, food and accommodation for the candidates are ensured by the schools in coordination with the volunteer force.

Union members, youth, and Women's Union of Nam Po district were present very early at the examination sites to prepare logistics to serve free meals to candidates.

In particular, in order to actively support all candidates participating in the exam to achieve the highest results, the Standing Committee of Nam Po District Youth Union in coordination with the Women's Union and the local Red Cross Society mobilized resources and called for socialization from organizations and individuals inside and outside the district to have funds to organize cooking for candidates during the exam period.

Unlike many other localities that only provide free meals for poor candidates or candidates with especially difficult circumstances, in Nam Po district, all candidates are provided with free meals during their time at the exam site. “Starting at noon on June 27, meal preparation was initiated for candidates in need. Free meals will be maintained for 3 days of the exam (from June 27 to 29),” said Mr. Nguyen Huu Dai, Vice Chairman of Nam Po District People's Committee.

Support meals for candidates who are boarding students at Phan Dinh Giot High School (Dien Bien Phu City).

Meanwhile, Tua Chua district this year has more than 470 candidates taking the 2023 High School Graduation Exam at 3 locations: the district's Ethnic Minority Boarding High School, Ta Sin Thanh Secondary - High School and Quyet Tien Secondary - High School. Because most of the candidates are children of ethnic minorities with difficult economic conditions, in recent days, schools and localities have proactively come up with plans to mobilize social resources to cover the cost of cooking for students.

“Each child is supported with 3 meals/day. The meals are guaranteed to be full of nutrients and food safety and hygiene,” said Mr. Le Hai Ninh, Vice Principal of Quyet Tien Secondary and High School.

Some other localities of Dien Bien province also support free meals for poor candidates, those in especially difficult circumstances, and children of ethnic minorities during the time they attend the High School Graduation Exam this year.

The 2023 high school graduation exam is aimed at maintaining and improving the ranking compared to other provinces and cities in the country by the education and training sector of Dien Bien province. Previously, in 2022, Dien Bien province had a high school graduation passing rate of 99.24%, ranking 51/63 provinces and cities (up 4 places) in terms of average exam score.
