Ha Long Bay (Quang Ninh province) and Sa Pa (Lao Cai province) of Vietnam have just been voted the Best of the Best 2024 Travellers' Choice Award by the world's largest travel consulting platform TripAdvisor.
In this list of 7 trending destinations in the world, Ha Long Bay and Sa Pa ranked 3rd and 5th respectively.
The Best of the Best awards honor destinations whose hotels, restaurants, and activities have received a high number of reviews and comments that exceed traveler expectations over a 12-month period. These seven destinations represent less than 1% of the 8 million destinations that Tripadvisor has reviewed and awarded this prestigious award.
Reviewing Ha Long Bay, TripAdvisor’s homepage article describes tourists visiting the site for a close-up look at the stunning limestone islands, rock formations and caves. These natural wonders have been eroded by centuries of wind and rain, making them truly breathtaking.
TripAdvisor suggests visitors rent kayaks, sailboats or sign up for a tour to experience and explore the beauty here.
Meanwhile, the article describes the town of Sa Pa located in the mountainous northwest region of Vietnam, colorful and extremely beautiful, providing visitors with a perfect oasis in the middle of a majestic mountain expedition or a tour of impressive terraced fields.
The Gothic stone church in the town centre is a highlight in the shopping centre, which is lined with stalls and shops. TripAdvisor recommends enjoying Vietnamese or European food in the town centre and not missing the exciting “love market” every Saturday night.
The top spot is Tokyo, Japan, where tradition meets modernity. Second is Seoul, South Korea’s business and cultural hub, which is home to both skyscrapers and ancient Buddhist temples. The Philippines’ Palawan Island, Colombia’s Bogota and Thailand’s Pattaya are also on the list.
This is not the first time Sa Pa and Ha Long Bay have been voted as international tourist destinations. Recently, the Indian tourism publication Times Travel honored the 50 most beautiful destinations in the world in 2024, including 3 Vietnamese locations "on" this list: Sa Pa (Lao Cai province), Ha Long Bay (Quang Ninh province) and Hoi An (Quang Nam province).
