Associate Professor Le Dinh Tung, Training Department, Hanoi Medical University said that based on the analysis of the 2023 high school graduation exam, the traditional score range related to the health sector is A00 (Math - Physics - Chemistry), B00, the combined score of B00 has shifted by 1 - 1.25 points in the range of 21 to 25. As for 25 points or more, there has generally been no significant change in the past 2 consecutive years.
Thus, it is predicted that the admission trend for majors with scores below 26 points this year will also increase from 1 to 1.25 points.
The score spectrum of block B fluctuated the most in 2023 compared to the remaining 4 blocks A, A1, C, D.
"The number of candidates with admission scores from 28 to 30 points is higher than in 2022. The number of candidates with scores from 26 to 28 points is also higher than last year. Meanwhile, the total quota of the school remains unchanged. Therefore, the expected benchmark score for the Medical group will increase compared to before," said Mr. Tung.
However, this year's benchmark score is also affected by the tuition fee increase according to the Government's regulations, from 14.5 million VND/school year to 55.2 million VND. For Dentistry, the tuition fee is about 50% lower than Medicine. This makes many candidates worried about changing their direction.
Besides, the policy of reducing the priority points from 22.5 points or more according to the Ministry's regulations will also not cause the standard score to fluctuate too much.
As for Thanh Hoa branch, due to level 3 autonomy, tuition fees are not higher than last year. Therefore, Mr. Tung believes that the benchmark score at Thanh Hoa branch will shift higher than last year, about 1 - 1.25 points.
The benchmark score for the 2022 Medicine major of Hanoi Medical University is 28.18 - the major with the highest benchmark score of the school. The Medicine major at Thanh Hoa branch is lower, respectively by method at 26.8 points and 24.1 points. The Dentistry major is 27.7 points. The remaining majors range from 19 points to 25.55 points.
According to statistics from Mr. Phung Quan, admissions expert at the University of Natural Sciences (Ho Chi Minh City National University), in block B00 with the highest score of 29.5 - 29.8 this year, there are 9 candidates, while last year there were no candidates.
The score of 29 in 2023 had 23 candidates, while in 2022 only 13 candidates achieved it. The score of 28.5 in 2023 had 94 candidates while in 2022 there were 68 candidates.
Especially when comparing the score of 25 points or more in group B, it can be seen that the number of candidates achieving high scores this year is higher than last year. This is the basis for predicting the benchmark scores of medical schools, schools enrolling group B this year will increase from 0.25 points to 1 point compared to last year.
Thus, in this block, with the same score, the number of candidates achieving in 2023 is higher than in 2022. Therefore, the benchmark scores for the Medical and Pharmaceutical fields of schools this year will increase by about 0.5 to 1.5 points, especially schools that last year used a floor score of about 25 - 27 points.
Comparison of scores of 25 points or more in block B between 2023 and 2022:
The admissions representative of the University of Medicine and Pharmacy (Thai Nguyen University) also predicted that the admission score this year may increase slightly by about 0.25 to 1 point.
This person said that last year, the school's majors had a benchmark score of 19 - 26.5 points, which is also the most fluctuating score range this year. The number of candidates with a score of 19 - 26 increased nearly 1.5 times compared to last year. Therefore, the benchmark score for the school's majors will increase compared to last year.
According to the announcement of the Ministry of Education and Training, this floor score applies to candidates in region 3, with the minimum score (without coefficient) of all combinations, as follows:
The minimum score for the Health sector is set by the Ministry of Education and Training.
The regulation of the common floor score for the Health sector with a practice certificate is implemented by the Ministry of Education and Training.
For leading health training schools such as Hanoi Medical University, Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy and some other public schools, this threshold does not mean much because the admission score is always much higher than the threshold.
