(Baoquangngai.vn) - Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairwoman of the Provincial People's Council Bui Thi Quynh Van attended the Ceremony to receive the Certificate of ranking the Provincial Historical Relic "The site where 68 liberation army soldiers sacrificed their lives in the Mau Than campaign in 1968" in Nguyen Nghiem ward (Quang Ngai city).
The ceremony was organized by the People's Committee of Nguyen Nghiem Ward on the morning of April 18. Also attending the ceremony were Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Secretary of the City Party Committee Ngo Van Trong; leaders of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism; and leaders of Quang Ngai City.

During the Mau Than Spring General Offensive and Uprising in 1968, the liberation army soldiers fought heroically, many of them were examples of selflessness for the country and service for the people. Among them, 68 soldiers of the 401st Special Forces Company of Military Region 5 heroically sacrificed their lives in the historic battle.
The remains of the soldiers were buried by the enemy in a hole at Go Khach, Nam Lo hamlet, Cam Thanh commune, Quang Ngai town in the past, now in group 1, Nguyen Nghiem ward (Quang Ngai city). After the complete liberation of the South, the local government coordinated with the relevant agencies to bring the remains of 68 martyrs to rest at the Quang Ngai City Martyrs Cemetery.

In 1990, to commemorate and pay tribute to the 68 martyrs who sacrificed their lives, the People's Committee of Quang Ngai City built a bas-relief at the place where the martyrs sacrificed their lives to mark the brave spirit and determination to die for the Fatherland of the heroic martyrs in the 1968 Tet Offensive and Uprising.
With the responsibility of preserving and promoting the value of the relic as well as the task of educating revolutionary traditions in the locality, recently the local government and people have established procedures to request competent agencies to collect documents, prepare scientific dossiers and receive a decision from the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee to rank the Relic Site of 68 Liberation Army soldiers who sacrificed their lives in the Mau Than Campaign in 1968 as a provincial-level historical relic in Decision No. 231 dated February 17, 2025.

This event is an affirmation of the historical value, sacrifice, fighting spirit, and steadfast will of revolutionary soldiers in the cause of fighting against the US to save the country. The management, restoration, preservation, and promotion of the value of the relic site of 68 liberation army soldiers who sacrificed their lives is the responsibility and duty of the entire political system and the entire people.
This is also a necessary task to educate revolutionary traditions, patriotism, the will to strive to excel in studying, following the tradition of our ancestors, and striving to build our homeland to develop more and more.
