Finding new musical talent with “All-round Rookie”

In episode 1 of “Project 100%” of the reality TV show “All-round Rookie”, Dinh Viet Tuong - a contestant with “Tourette syndrome” surprised the judges and the audience with his talent, thereby inspiring many people with his courage to overcome social prejudices as well as his own inferiority complex.

“Project 100%” – the survival stage of the All-round Rookie officially aired episode 1 on YeaH1’s Youtube platform with the main content looking back at the journey to find the top 30 as well as the final meeting to decide the top 30 with the participation of Korean experts, all-round producers, judges who directly judged each stage as well as representatives of the program’s producers.

Among them, the contestant Dinh Viet Tuong (23 years old) from Vinh Linh (Quang Tri) impressed and left a lot of emotions on the judges as well as the audience watching the program. In grade 7, Viet Tuong unfortunately suffered from "Tourette syndrome". This is a disorder related to repetitive movements or unwanted sounds (tics) that occur automatically and cannot be easily controlled.

However, during the casting for All-round Rookie, Viet Tuong surprised the entire jury with his beautiful voice and graceful fan dance performance. This special contestant could not hide his emotions after finishing his performance. Viet Tuong expressed that in the past, being bullied and teased because of his strange illness made him helpless, sometimes thinking about negative decisions about his life. However, during the casting, he felt happy because he had conquered himself by daring to bravely pursue his passion for art.

The judges present at the casting session such as director Duong Mai Viet Anh, music producer SlimV, singer ST Son Thach, Xuan Nghi... could not hold back their tears when hearing the story of the special contestant.

Sharing with Viet Tuong, singer ST Son Thach said: “There will be many people who sympathize with Viet Tuong, but there will also be many people who do not understand what you are going through. This will be a very inspirational story for those who are luckier than Viet Tuong. Thank you for overcoming everything to come to 'All-round Rookie'. For ST, you are an all-rounder, a special star.”

In addition to Viet Tuong, episode 1 of “Project 100%” also witnessed many impressive contestants with bright faces, beautiful voices, skillful choreography and flexible improvisation, meeting the criteria of an All-round Rookie. Among them, Doan Van Chung was officially the only contestant to receive the “straight into the top 30” badge in the 5 casting days of the program.

In the “Project 100%” of “All-round Rookie”, 30 trainees will undergo international standard training, applied to top Asian boy bands with the most prestigious experts in the music industry in Korea and Vietnamese producers who have experience performing on big stages, production ability and leadership spirit. The three all-round producers have been identified as Toc Tien, Kay Tran and Soobin.

Young talents will be trained in a closed manner for 3 months at the “All-round Rookie” common house with an intensive learning and training path to face extreme challenges to discover and develop themselves. To evaluate their abilities through each training stage, 30 rookies are required to compete in the exams. Anyone who fails to meet the standards will be immediately eliminated from the program.

Rookie of the Year is a reality TV show that selects, trains and searches for talented male artists in the music field, capable of competing on international stages. Applying a direct competition format, where rookies not only have to compete with each other but also have to overcome famous international music groups to prove their abilities and talents, the best rookies will be selected to form a band and debut to the public. The show once made a big splash in China in 2024, with a girl group version led by Lay (former member of EXO). "Rookie of the Year" is expected to officially air on VTV3 in October 2025.
