Royal Music Performance at the Anniversary Ceremony

At the ceremony, Ms. Miki Nozawa, Acting Chief Representative of UNESCO in Vietnam, sent a congratulatory message from Mr. Lazare Eloundou Assomo, Director of the UNESCO World Heritage Center, stating: “The Complex of Hue Monuments has been and will continue to be an indispensable part of the network of World Heritage sites.

At the same time, UNESCO highly appreciated the close cooperation relationship with Thua Thien Hue province in recent times, especially the conservation of Hue relics which has been promoted with high determination and achieved many great results. “30 years ago, UNESCO and the international community recognized the urgency of supporting Vietnam to preserve and protect its precious heritages. Most of Hue relics were in a state of serious disrepair. At that time, Vietnam had just entered the early stages of international integration and faced many difficulties.

Yet 30 years later, we are delighted to witness the transformation of this World Heritage Site with extremely positive results after many investment and reinvestment projects for conservation. The Complex of Hue Monuments has become one of the most effectively preserved relic sites in terms of both structure and other intangible heritage items. Hue Monuments is a successful example in Vietnam and in the region,” said Ms. Miki Nozawa.

At the same time, the Complex of Hue Monuments - the first Cultural Heritage of Vietnam recognized by UNESCO as a World Cultural Heritage and 10 years later, the Royal Court Music of Vietnam has paved the way for Vietnamese cultural heritages to gradually integrate deeply into the region and the world, affirming to the world that: Vietnamese culture is an advanced culture, imbued with national identity; Vietnam is a country rich in culture and has the potential to strongly develop the cultural industry and services.

In particular, Hue Heritage is also a unique cultural diplomacy channel, an extremely important bridge in promoting diplomatic relations, friendly cooperation, and enhancing mutual understanding between Vietnam and international friends. “With the experience, courage and efforts of the Party Committee, government and people of Thua Thien Hue; the attention and support of the Party, State and ministries, branches and localities; the enthusiastic help, sharing and companionship of the people of the whole country, our overseas Vietnamese and international friends, the unique cultural heritage values of Hue will be forever preserved, passed on to today and future generations, forever lasting with the nation”, Comrade Nguyen Xuan Thang believes.
