Take the high-speed railway from Phu My Hung to Can Gio coastal urban area expected to take 16 minutes

The high-speed railway will run from District 7 to Can Gio District (HCMC) along Rung Sac Road.

At the groundbreaking ceremony of the Can Gio coastal urban tourism project - Vinhomes Green Paradise, Vingroup Corporation informed that the coastal urban area will be connected to the center of Ho Chi Minh City by a high-speed urban railway, with a maximum speed of up to 250km/h, from Phu My Hung area (District 7) to Can Gio coastal urban area in just 16 minutes.

48.5km long railway project, transporting 30,000 - 40,000 passengers/hour in each direction

According to the preliminary research report, the railway line is 48.5km long, starting from Nguyen Van Linh Street (between Nguyen Thi Thap and Ly Phuc Man intersections, District 7), passing through Nguyen Luong Bang - Rung Sac and ending at a 39ha land adjacent to the Vinhomes Green Paradise project in Can Gio district (HCMC).

The line is designed with a double track, standard gauge of 1,435mm, operating at high altitude, and can carry 30,000 - 40,000 passengers per hour in each direction.

The project is expected to contribute significantly to increasing the attractiveness of the Can Gio coastal urban area, facilitating travel from the city center to this area, as well as meeting the travel needs of residents and tourists.

The railway line is expected to have a total investment capital of about VND102,370 billion (about USD4.09 billion), using Vingroup's capital and capital mobilized according to legal regulations.

Immediately after receiving the proposal for the high-speed urban railway project to Can Gio, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee assigned the Department of Finance to preside over and coordinate with relevant departments to guide investors in completing the procedures for proposing the project under the public-private partnership (PPP) form.

The city is also reviewing to propose adding the project to the list of projects applying special mechanisms according to Resolution 188 of the National Assembly to speed up progress.

For this project, the Prime Minister has directed Ho Chi Minh City to urgently study and deploy urban railway routes connecting Can Gio with the city center and Long Thanh airport, and at the same time call for investors to participate and report in April 2025.

Can Gio will be the new convergence point of traffic infrastructure.

Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Chu Hoi assessed that Vingroup Corporation is not only investing in an urban area but is creating a comprehensive urban ecosystem.

He emphasized three important factors: international class, versatility and regional connectivity are key factors in sustainable development for the Can Gio area.

According to Mr. Hoi, when investing in this Can Gio coastal urban area, in the near future after the merger, Ho Chi Minh City must review and adjust the planning of some appropriate transport infrastructure projects, such as the urban railway project extending from the center of Ho Chi Minh City to here.

Not stopping there, in the near future, we must think about having bridges and underground tunnels across the river connecting the Can Gio coastal urban area with the current Ba Ria - Vung Tau province. This will make the two regions - localities closer together, not just the center of Ho Chi Minh City with Can Gio district.

"Investing in connecting transport such as metro, bridges, sea-crossing bridges, and even waterways will help expand connections from Ho Chi Minh City to Ba Ria - Vung Tau, creating development momentum not only from the center of Ho Chi Minh City but also from neighboring areas," said Mr. Hoi.

According to Vingroup Corporation, Can Gio coastal tourism urban area - Vinhomes Green Paradise is the largest highlight super urban area in Ho Chi Minh City, "a world-class green - smart - ecological resort and tourism paradise", with a population of up to 230,000 people.
