According to the Ministry of Public Security, in the first half month of implementing Decree 168/2024/ND-CP, effective from January 1, 2025, the national traffic police force detected and handled 174,653 cases of traffic safety violations; revoked 17,595 cases of driving licenses and professional certificates; temporarily detained 955 cars, 49,649 motorbikes; and 12,691 cases of driving licenses being deducted points.

Compared to the previous period, the number of fines decreased by 22,786 cases. Of which, 36,055 cases were violations of alcohol concentration; 2,888 cases of violations of overload, oversize, and extended cargo walls; 37,337 cases of speeding; 339 cases of drivers on the road with drugs in their bodies; 3,279 cases of non-compliance with traffic light signals;...

The representative of the Traffic Police Department assessed that Decree 168 issued with many acts of increasing the level of penalties has had a profound impact on awareness, significantly raising the consciousness of traffic participants. The authorities and forces performing the task of ensuring traffic order and safety all determined that "the goal is not to increase the level of fines collected for the State budget but to be determined to raise the awareness of traffic participants in complying with the law on road traffic".

According to the representative of the Traffic Police Department, the situation of drivers running red lights, driving on sidewalks, going against traffic signals, etc. has decreased significantly, especially in large cities. Traffic participants have voluntarily obeyed traffic signals even when there is no traffic police force to check and control, gradually changing the awareness and sense of responsibility of each citizen when participating in traffic, forming a culture when participating in traffic, creating an image of civilized traffic and urban areas with international friends, and receiving the support of the people.

"Before, during and after the peak of Tet, the traffic order and safety situation nationwide, especially in large cities, is always complicated, but with the strict compliance of the people, going in order will reduce the risk of prolonged congestion" - a representative of the Traffic Police Department informed.

Traffic accidents have also seen a marked change, with all three criteria decreasing compared to the same period and the previous period. Accordingly, there were 681 traffic accidents nationwide, killing 365 people and injuring 453 people, a decrease of 355 cases, 47 deaths, and 426 injuries compared to the same period.
