The first second-degree training course on railways and metro, coordinated by Deo Ca Group and Ho Chi Minh City University of Transport, has reached its final semester.
Deo Ca Group said that at present, the first course of the training program ordered by the Ho Chi Minh City University of Transport (UTH) on railway and metro majors has completed 2 semesters, is implementing the 3rd semester and is expected to end in August 2025.
Engineers from Deo Ca Group participated in the first railway training program of Ho Chi Minh City University of Transport.
"This is the first course in the training program that Deo Ca Group ordered UTH to train for nearly 40 students who are employees of units in the Deo Ca Group system and partners.
These students have graduated from majors in Traffic Construction, Road and Bridge Construction, Hydrogeology, Geological Engineering, etc. at universities and colleges in Vietnam," said the leader of Deo Ca Group.
Associate Professor, Dr. Pham Thi Anh, Director of Deo Ca Research and Training Institute (under UTH) said that the subjects included in the training program all focus on practicality and application for students after graduation.
For example, in the construction sector, with students all graduating with a major in transport infrastructure construction, the curriculum is designed to help students quickly access specialized subjects in the fields of high-speed railway and urban railway construction.
"The second degree program is "tailored" for students based on the knowledge base they have previously acquired and job requirements after graduation. Thanks to that, the training volume is shortened, and students will basically complete the course after about 18-24 months," said Associate Professor, Dr. Pham Thi Anh.
According to the Director, Associate Professor, Dr. Pham Thi Anh, by participating in the training course at UTH, students will be equipped with in-depth knowledge and skills in design, construction and management of various types of works such as: Design of foundations and superstructures of railways, railway bridges, railway tunnels, national railway stations, urban railway stations and construction techniques of high-speed railway works.
In addition, students are also equipped with specialized railway English to be ready to approach and work in a multinational joint venture environment.
Mr. Tran Duc Viet, Class President of Course 1, said that the students of the class both study and work, and the amount of professional work is not small. However, with a sense of responsibility, the students are always aware of arranging their work, fully participating in classes to complete their study progress according to the general plan of the School and the Group.
"We are well aware of our roles and responsibilities and are making efforts to study, accumulate knowledge and experience to have enough capacity to participate in implementing transportation projects, including large-scale railway projects, contributing to the development of the country," said Mr. Viet.
Course students participate in practical training programs.
It is known that right after the first training course ended, the railway - metro training program continued when the second course opened in November 2024, training 130 students who are selected personnel from departments of Deo Ca Group, member companies and partners. The course is divided into 3 classes in 2 majors: Railway Construction and Automatic Control Engineering and Railway Signal Information.
In addition to theoretical training, Deo Ca also organizes overseas work programs, studies the practical training process of the railway - metro industry, actively promotes cooperation with international partners with experience in high-speed railways such as Japan, China... to transfer technology and advanced technical solutions, and at the same time researches to "localize" technology and equipment to suit the conditions and needs of the Vietnamese market.
According to Resolution No. 172/2024/QH15 on investment policy for the North-South high-speed railway project, the North-South high-speed railway project has a total preliminary investment of more than 67 billion USD, making it the largest transport infrastructure project ever in Vietnam. The 1,541km route, with 60% bridge structure, 30% ground, and 10% tunnel, will bring an exceptionally large amount of work to Vietnamese transport infrastructure construction contractors.
According to calculations, the project needs a project management team of about 700-1,000 people, the consulting unit needs to train 1,000-1,300 people; the operating unit needs 13,800 people. The construction sector, industrial complex, manufacturing, and production of materials and components according to the implementation roadmap needs about 220,000 people.
