Buom Temple: A spiritual and cultural tourist destination

Buom Temple, Tan Tien Commune (Hung Ha) is one of the historical and cultural relics located in the historical relic complex of Tien La Temple, worshiping Dong Nhung General Vu Thi Thuc, who had the merit of defeating the Eastern Han invaders. This is an attractive spiritual and cultural tourist destination, attracting a large number of tourists to visit, worship and travel in the spring of the year.

Buom Temple was recognized as a national historical and cultural relic in 1990.

Historical records: In 39 AD, the Trung Sisters raised the flag of uprising, calling on heroes from all over the country to come together. General Vu Thi Thuc of the Eastern Rong gathered troops, raised a flag with the four golden words "General of the Eight Calamities", set up an altar to worship heaven and earth, and joined the soldiers of the Da Cuong region to join forces to fight against the Eastern Han army. In the spring of 40 AD, the Trung Sisters' uprising was completely victorious. In 42 AD, the Eastern Han king ordered Ma Vien to lead troops to reoccupy our country. General Vu Thi Thuc of the Eastern Rong led the vanguard and fought fiercely with the Trung Sisters. In the decisive battle, the Trung Sisters heroically sacrificed themselves on February 6, Quy Mao year (43 AD). General Vu Thi Thuc of the Eastern Rong and her soldiers retreated to the Da Cuong region to continue the resistance. Here, the Eastern Han army concentrated all their forces to besiege the rebels. After 39 days and nights of fierce fighting, with supplies running out, she and her soldiers heroically sacrificed themselves at Kim Quy hill (in the area of Tan Tien and Doan Hung communes today) on March 17, Quy Mao year (43 AD). Moved by her merits and heroic spirit, the people in the surrounding area built a temple to worship her. According to traditional customs, every year on the 10th day of the third lunar month is the opening day of the Buom temple festival.

The national historical and cultural relic of Buom Temple was built on a spacious, high and airy land. Located next to the Tien Hung River, on the heroic land of Tan Tien Commune, the temple gate faces the Southwest. The relic complex was built with 3 buildings: the rear palace, the second and the third. The rear palace is where the statue of Dong Nhung Dai Tuong Quan is placed, the statue is gilded splendidly, exuding the majestic spirit of the female general. Along with the system of parallel sentences, worship objects, and bronze sacrificial objects gilded splendidly, with the theme of birds, trees and leaves, are decorative objects made of ceramic and porcelain hundreds of years old. In addition, there is a set of tables and chairs made from the roots and trunks of longan trees over 120 years old, carved by artisans in the shape of a dragon holding a pearl, spraying water and playing with clouds. The second palace connects with the first palace and the rear palace to form a closed corridor, where people and visitors from all over the world place incense and flowers and celebrate the Saint's ceremony. The overall project includes the third building, consisting of 5 compartments, built entirely of ironwood. Through the vicissitudes of time and the ups and downs of history, the system of wooden pillars, supports, tiled roofs and decorative materials here has seriously degraded and has been dismantled and restored many times. Bronze artisan Hoang Le Them, the head of the Buom temple, said: Due to my relationship with the Buom temple, at the end of 2001, I was elected by the people as the head of the temple. Previously, due to the destruction of war, the architecture of the temple was seriously degraded. I, together with the local government and people, stood up to restore, embellish and rebuild the temple. In particular, with socialized capital, contributions and donations from visitors from all directions and benefactors, in August 2022, the Buom temple started construction of a monolithic stone gate with a total investment of over 5 billion VND, creating the majestic splendor of the temple. Nowadays, Buom Temple has become a convergence point of historical glory, a spiritual and cultural tourist destination for local people and visitors from all over.

The uniqueness of the architectural art and the mysterious sacred land of the temple have created a magical resonance, with an immeasurable attraction for visitors from all over the world as a convergence of humanistic values in the worship of the Mother Goddess of the Vietnamese people. Coming to the Buom Temple Festival, visitors will have a beautiful impression with many sacrificial rituals of 20 sacrificial groups from localities inside and outside the district and witness the procession of the Saint from Luong Ngoc communal house, Tan Tien commune to Buom Temple.
