The concert will present Beethoven's Symphony No. 1 in C major (often called "Beethoven's first symphony"), a work that demonstrates his creative ability to innovate classical forms, a feat he dedicated the rest of his compositional career to perfecting; Chopin's Polish Fantasy for piano and orchestra (which Chopin called "Potpourri on Polish themes"); and Grieg's Piano Concerto in A minor (a work that shows Grieg's deep connection with Norwegian folk music and landscapes, with romantic melodies evoking the grandeur of his homeland, composed when he was 25 years old and still unknown).
In addition to Chopin's music, Poland also held a prominent place in the concert thanks to the performances of pianist Joanna Marcinkowska and the talented conductor and composer Wojciech Czepiel.
