National Highway 7A passes through Con Cuong district, 31km long, is the main route of the Southwest region of Nghe An connecting with Nam Can International Border Gate (Laos).
In just a short time, at the Bong Pass on National Highway 7A (passing through Bong Khe Commune, Con Cuong District), two landslides occurred, accompanied by large trees falling from above, injuring two people and causing traffic congestion.
Specifically, at around 4:30 p.m. on September 19, a large banyan tree branch suddenly broke off from a high mountain and fell onto the Bong Abyss, crushing two people on a motorbike. Many passersby quickly shouted for help, helped cut the tree branch, and quickly rescued the two victims.

At around 1am on September 23rd, also in this area, a tree on a rocky mountain suddenly uprooted and fell onto the road along with many large rocks. Luckily, there were no people or vehicles passing by at that time.
After the incident, the People's Committee of Con Cuong district directed functional forces to urgently fix the problem to ensure traffic safety here.
The District People's Committee has coordinated with Road Management Area II, Road Management Office II.2, and Joint Stock Company 495 to clear trees on the rocky mountain to prevent falling trees from affecting traffic safety.
However, after clearing the area, the forces discovered that the rocky area of the Eo Vuc Bong area was at high risk of landslides, causing unsafety for people and vehicles traveling on the route.
Mr. Tran Anh Tuan, Vice Chairman of Con Cuong District People's Committee, said that due to the continuous occurrence of landslides and fallen trees in the area of Vuc Bong, the local government is implementing a draft to submit to Nghe An Provincial People's Committee and the Ministry of Transport on the proposal to invest in a tunnel project through the mountain on National Highway 7A, from Km 88+150 to Km 88+500. The total length of the tunnel is about 350m, the width is 25m; the initial estimate is that the investment is about 150 billion VND.
According to Mr. Tuan, the above proposal is consistent with the general planning for building Con Cuong town as the central urban area of the southwestern mountainous region of Nghe An province, approved by the Provincial People's Committee in Decision No. 4438 dated December 9, 2005.
