On September 10th, the Seoul Western District Prosecutors' Office, Criminal Division 2 (headed by Chief Prosecutor Chu Hye Yoon), announced that BTS's Suga has been indicted. Suga is facing charges of drunk driving under the Korean Road Traffic Act.
According to the indictment summary, the court will impose a fine or penalty based on the evidence rather than holding a formal trial. The exact amount of the fine has not yet been disclosed.
Suga was found by police on August 6th, near his residence in Hannam-dong, Yongsan District, Seoul, after falling while riding an electric scooter under the influence of alcohol.
He was detained for violating the Road Traffic Act. At the time, Suga's blood alcohol concentration was measured at 0.227%, significantly exceeding the license revocation threshold of 0.08%.
According to the Road Traffic Act, a blood alcohol concentration of 0.2% or higher can result in a prison sentence of 2 to 5 years or a fine of 10 million to 20 million won (approximately $7,500 to $15,000 USD).
