On the afternoon of October 15, the Department of Tourism of Khanh Hoa province held a meeting to discuss solutions to welcome international cruise ships back to Nha Trang with related units in Khanh Hoa province.
A series of cruise ships canceled trips to Nha Trang
At the meeting, travel companies, tourism businesses and units specializing in receiving international ships proposed that Khanh Hoa province needs to have the best plan for international ships to dock instead of Nha Trang port.
Previously, Hai Dang Nha Trang Maritime Agency Co., Ltd. sent a document to Khanh Hoa Department of Tourism and Nha Trang Maritime Port Authority informing that the ship owner officially canceled 7/10 registered trips to Nha Trang in the last months of 2024.
Among them are ships carrying a very large number of passengers such as the Quantum Of The Sea ship carrying 4,000 passengers, the Celebrity Sostice ship with 2,800 passengers...
Mr. Do Thanh Long - Director of Hai Dang Nha Trang Shipping Agency Company Limited - said that more than 16,000 visitors did not visit Nha Trang as planned. In 2025, the company expects to receive about 37 trips, if this situation continues, it will cause huge losses.
According to Mr. Tran Phuc Thao - Director of Thanh Thanh Travel Trading and Service Company Limited (Thanh Thanh Travel), normally shipping lines schedule cruise destinations 3 years before departure, every year they update the destination situation on the tour itinerary, with the above changes, the sales of tours of shipping lines will certainly be disrupted.
Suggest alternative destinations
At the meeting, many units agreed to the plan to welcome international cruise ships at Ana Marina to replace Nha Trang port.
Ana Marina representative said that the company's infrastructure is sufficient to receive five-star cruise ships, there are three proposed locations for cruise ships to anchor, two locations are 2.5 nautical miles and 0.6 nautical miles from shore respectively. If the government agrees, it can organize to receive the ship immediately.
However, this enterprise is currently stuck with some procedures and has not been granted a license by the competent authority as prescribed. As for the representative of Cam Ranh International Port, they will create conditions to welcome international ships to the port.

Colonel Nguyen Tuan Anh - Chairman of the Board of Directors of Cam Ranh International Port - said that Naval Region 4 has committed to supporting and minimizing entry and exit procedures to make welcoming guests more convenient.
“Currently, Cam Ranh International Port is the only port that meets the standards as well as modern facilities and personnel to receive five-star cruise ships,” Colonel Nguyen Tuan Anh informed. However, according to the units, the biggest difficulty lies in the fact that Cam Ranh Port is located far from Nha Trang City.
Previously, Khanh Hoa Department of Tourism also surveyed and proposed to build a tour program to visit Cam Ranh - Cam Lam for international cruise tourists arriving at Cam Ranh international port.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Le Thanh - Director of Khanh Hoa Province Department of Tourism - requested Tan Cang - Petro Cam Ranh Company Limited to specify the regulations and procedures for cruise ship passengers entering and exiting the gate so that units and businesses welcoming ships can feel secure.
In addition, the Department of Transport and Nha Trang Port Authority will be requested to guide the completion of the remaining licensing procedures for Ana Marina, allowing ships to anchor here soon.
