Proposal to adjust the speed of Quy Nhon - Pleiku highway to 100km/h
Quy Nhon - Pleiku Expressway is proposed to have a design speed of 100km/h on the entire route, replacing the old plan of 80km/h on some sections through hills and mountains.
On April 4, a source from Tuoi Tre Online said that the Ministry of Construction has submitted a report to the Prime Minister on the pre-feasibility study of the Quy Nhon - Pleiku expressway project.
In the latest study, it is proposed to apply a design speed of 100km/h on the entire route, instead of the previous option of 80km/h on sections through rugged mountainous terrain.
Total investment capital is expected to increase from VND 38,917 billion to VND 43,510 billion.

With the latest research plan, this expressway starts at National Highway 19B in An Nhon town (Binh Dinh), the route runs in the East-West direction to the South of Phu Cat Airport, intersects with the North-South expressway in the East, continues downstream of Van Phong dam, intersects with National Highway 19.
Then, go completely south of Highway 19, cut through An Khe Pass, Mang Yang Pass and end at Ho Chi Minh Road in Pleiku City (Gia Lai).
There will be 3 tunnels on the route, including: An Khe 1 tunnel 1,170 meters long, An Khe 2 tunnel 860 meters long and Mang Yang tunnel 3,000 meters long.
The total length of the route is about 125km, of which the section through Binh Dinh is about 40km, and the section through Gia Lai is about 85km.
According to the Ministry of Construction, the project will be submitted to the National Assembly for approval of the investment policy in May 2025 and investment will be implemented from 2025, with completion and exploitation in 2029.
Currently, National Highway 19 connecting Gia Lai and Binh Dinh passes through many steep hills and rugged terrain, so the travel time lasts from 3.5 to 4 hours. When investing in the expressway, the travel time will be significantly shortened, taking only about 2 hours.
