According to the Department of Transport of Dong Nai province, regarding traffic connection to Bien Hoa airport, the People's Committee of Binh Duong province has recently issued a document providing comments on some contents of the planning of Dong Nai province for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050.
In particular, Binh Duong province proposed Dong Nai province to add a railway route connecting to Bien Hoa airport.
In the coming time, Dong Nai Department of Transport will work with the authorities of Binh Duong province on the proposed railway route to be added to the planning.
A corner of Bien Hoa airport, Dong Nai province.
Currently, Dong Nai and Binh Duong are two localities with a large number of people traveling back and forth to work at units, companies, and factories.
Therefore, increasing connecting traffic routes will help people and businesses travel and trade more conveniently.
The two localities are being connected via Dong Nai, Hoa An and Thu Bien bridges.
In addition, Bach Dang 2 Bridge is also under construction connecting Tan Uyen and Vinh Cuu, Dong Nai.
In addition, there are 4 more planned locations to build bridges across Dong Nai River and Be River including: Hieu Liem 2, Tan An - Lac An, Tan Hien - Thuong Tan and Thanh Hoi 2.
Dong Nai and Binh Duong are separated by Dong Nai River and Be River, so they have been connected by Dong Nai Bridge, Hoa An Bridge and Thu Bien Bridge.
To enhance traffic connectivity when Bien Hoa airport is planned for dual-use exploitation, Dong Nai province has also agreed to add a location to build a bridge connecting Bien Hoa city and Di An city at Xom La ferry terminal, Buu Long ward.
The construction of an additional road bridge at this location will create a new connection between Bien Hoa city and Binh Duong province, reducing traffic pressure on Huynh Van Nghe street when Bien Hoa airport is exploited for dual use.
According to Mr. Nguyen Bon, Deputy Director of Dong Nai Department of Transport, Bien Hoa airport, when exploited for dual use in the 2021-2030 period, will have a capacity to serve 5 million passengers per year.
To meet this capacity, the Department has researched traffic connection directions to Bien Hoa airport and proposed updating it into Dong Nai province's planning.
Nguyen Ai Quoc Street is currently the main road connecting to Bien Hoa airport.
Specifically, Nguyen Du Street, the intersection with Nguyen Ai Quoc Street, will be expanded to 6-8 lanes with an expected road width of 48-60m.
The Department of Transport also proposed to supplement the planning of provincial route 760C on the basis of upgrading Vo Truong Toan and Nguyen Dinh Chieu routes (Bien Hoa city) passing through Buu Long tourist area connecting to Xom La bridge with a scale of 6 lanes.
In addition, the Department also proposed to extend provincial road 768B to connect to Thanh Hoi 2 bridge. This is a bridge across Dong Nai river, connecting Thanh Phuoc ward and Thanh Hoi commune in Tan Uyen, Binh Duong province.
Bach Dang 2 Bridge is under construction in Vinh Cuu district, connecting Dong Nai and Binh Duong provinces.
Dong Nai Department of Transport will also expand provincial road 768, the last section from Nguyen Du street to Tan Trieu bridge (rural road 7, Tan Binh commune, Vinh Cuu district, Dong Nai province).
At the same time, the road will be extended by about 3.6km from the intersection with Highway 7 to Bien Hoa city belt road near Bach Dang bridge to strengthen the connection between Bien Hoa airport and Binh Duong province with a scale of 6 lanes.
Bien Hoa Military Airport was built in 1955, about 30km from Tan Son Nhat Airport (HCMC). Since its construction, Bien Hoa Airport has served military purposes, training flights to protect the airspace and has been assigned to the 935th Air Force Regiment, 370th Division, Ministry of National Defense for management and use.
In June 2023, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha signed a Decision approving the Master Plan for the development of the national airport and seaport system for the 2021-2030 period, with a vision to 2050.
Bien Hoa Airport is planned to be a domestic airport serving dual-use exploitation in the period 2021-2030. In the period 2021-2030, the capacity is 5 million passengers/year. Vision to 2050, the capacity is 10 million passengers/year.
