According to Gazzetta dello Sport , De Rossi has had several meetings with Wolves representatives in recent months, including discussions regarding the head coach position at the club. Wolves are going through a difficult period under Vitor Pereira, and if a manager change is necessary, De Rossi may be considered.

According to Italian media, at the time manager Gary O'Neil was sacked last December, De Rossi was also considered a potential option. However, Wolves decided to put their faith in Pereira.

De Rossi, 41, is currently unemployed after leaving AS Roma in September 2024. Ivan Juric, appointed by Roma to replace De Rossi, also lost his job due to poor results after only two months in charge.

De Rossi had previously attracted interest from several teams in Saudi Arabia and Spain. However, Italian media reported that the former midfielder preferred to try his luck in the Premier League.

Besides Wolves, Fiorentina are also monitoring De Rossi's situation, especially if manager Raffaele Palladino is replaced at the end of this season.

Last season, De Rossi showed his Midas touch when he took over as AS Roma manager from Jose Mourinho. The Italian strategist led the capital club to a 6th-place finish in Serie A 2023/24. In the Europa League, the "Giallorossi" reached the semi-finals.
