Referring to the nuclear issue, Mr. Kani said that Iran is ready to resume negotiations with the US, stating: "We welcome the resumption of negotiations with the US to restore the participation of both sides in the nuclear deal."

Previously, the previous Iranian government strongly opposed discussions with the US after Washington under Donald Trump unilaterally withdrew from the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) in 2018. The administration of US President Joe Biden later failed to resume this agreement.

In addition, the acting Iranian Foreign Minister also revealed that Tehran "intends to further strengthen its relations with China, Russia and neighboring countries."

Appreciating the constructive role of Moscow and Beijing in efforts to ensure political stability in the Middle East, he said: "We believe that Russia and China are making serious efforts to strengthen mutual political trust in the region as well as to further ensure economic relations, connectivity and cooperation in our region."

Regarding the conflict in the Gaza Strip, the Iranian diplomat declared his rejection of US President Joe Biden's solution and said that Washington is currently the "largest and most important country" in providing lethal weapons to Israel.

According to him, if the US plays the role of mediator, "there is no need to make a big deal, just ending the policy of transferring lethal weapons to Israel is enough."

Mr. Kani called on the Security Council to “use all its potential and capabilities” to prevent Israel from continuing its attacks that kill innocent civilians in Gaza, “especially women and children.”

Regarding the risk of escalating tensions between Israel and the Hezbollah movement in Lebanon, Iran's acting foreign minister said that a potential attack on the neighboring country would be "hell from which there is no return" for Tel Aviv.

Assessing that the balance of power in the region has changed after Hamas attacked Israel and Tel Aviv launched a military campaign in the Gaza Strip, according to Bagheri Kani, Israel “can intentionally and voluntarily enter Lebanon and expand the war to this country, but it cannot end the conflict or tension by itself.”
