On April 10, a leader of the Department of Planning and Investment of Can Tho City said that he had asked NOVA Real Estate Investment Group Joint Stock Company (Novaland Group) to clarify the plan to establish a market for single women at Au Islet, Hung Phu Ward, Cai Rang District.
"The enterprise has not yet submitted a full report, but only sent a document to the city requesting support, so it has not invited departments to meet and give their opinions. We have asked them to redo the project to clarify how the market will be built and how it will operate," he said.
Previously, Novaland Group sent a document to Can Tho City People's Committee requesting support for the establishment of Mekong Single Ladies Market (market for single women) at Au Islet.
The content stated that this year, the group plans to build a cultural - culinary - shopping - entertainment and resort town Mekong 9 Dragons Town in the Au Islet area in the direction of sustainable development and climate change adaptation.
The town will be designed and built in a way that combines traditional values with science and technology, AI, VR... to create a unique and different gateway town. The company will have policies to support loans, land support, and dormitory support for single women.
The information that Novaland asked the city to support the establishment of a market for single women has raised many questions.
For example, when women want to go to that market, they have to bring a separation certificate or a single certificate? And what instructions do other people have to follow to go to that market? Are the sellers and buyers all single women?
In response to the enterprise's proposal, the Chairman of the Can Tho City People's Committee assigned the Department of Planning and Investment to preside over and coordinate with relevant departments and units to provide advice and submit to the City People's Committee for consideration and decision according to regulations before April 15.
