This is the expectation and recommendation emphasized by the thematic supervision delegation on "implementation of policies and laws on environmental protection since the Law on Environmental Protection 2020 took effect" of the National Assembly Delegation of Lam Dong province at the working session with the People's Committee of Da Lat city and related agencies and units.
Efforts to build and deploy appropriate solutions and models
Before working with the City People's Committee, the members of the Supervisory Delegation spent time conducting a field survey in Ward 2, one of the leading localities in implementing effective environmental protection models. The first stop was a residential area in the area and the members of the Delegation were introduced in detail to the local household waste classification model at source. Next, the Delegation visited Nguyen Du Secondary School - a school that stands out with its small-scale model of "collecting beer cans for gifts", attracting the active participation of many students, helping them form the habit of recycling and protecting the environment from the time they were still in school. The creativity and effectiveness of the models have shown the efforts to find and implement solutions for collecting and classifying waste suitable to the specific characteristics of each area. At the same time, raising public awareness of the importance of environmental protection.

After directly observing the actual models, the monitoring delegation listened to a detailed report from the representative of the City Department of Agriculture and Environment on the results achieved in implementing environmental protection policies in the city. Accordingly, the rate of collection and treatment of domestic waste in the city has reached an impressive level of over 99%. Hazardous medical waste and waste generated from agricultural activities, especially pesticide packaging, are also collected and treated in accordance with regulations...
Currently, about 18.6% of domestic wastewater in the area has been collected and connected to the city's centralized wastewater treatment system. Although this rate is still modest compared to actual requirements, it is an important start in solving the problem of water pollution - one of the major challenges for a tourist city. Currently, tourist areas and attractions in the area are required to commit to strictly implementing legal regulations and actively participating in environmental protection activities...
Sustainable development for present and future generations
In addition to the remarkable results, the implementation of policies and laws on environmental protection in the area also faces difficulties and challenges. In particular, the process of granting environmental licenses to production and business establishments still has many complicated procedures; the incomplete and synchronous system of waste collection and treatment in some areas still causes pollution of some settling lakes and surface water, significantly affecting the natural landscape as well as the quality of life of local people...
From the facts, the members of the Supervisory Team raised many questions related to solutions for handling agricultural waste, pesticide packaging; shortcomings related to the operation and technology of the solid waste treatment plant in Xuan Truong... These contents were seriously noted by representatives of functional departments and leaders of the City People's Committee and detailed and specific explanations were given. Especially, regarding the work of controlling water pollution, measures for collecting and treating wastewater; plans and solutions to completely resolve outstanding issues.

Head of the Provincial Delegation of National Assembly Deputies, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly's Social Committee Lam Van Doan acknowledged and highly appreciated the efforts and results that Da Lat city has achieved in environmental protection. At the same time, he suggested that the city review, comprehensively evaluate and develop specific and feasible solutions to thoroughly overcome existing problems; further enhance the awareness and responsibility of each citizen and the community in joining hands to preserve and protect the living environment... In particular, in the process of attracting investment, the city needs to closely follow the province's plans and planning related to waste and wastewater treatment projects; require investors to have a strong commitment and strictly implement environmental protection measures.
Expecting that in the near future, Da Lat will truly become a tourist city of ASEAN stature, the Head of the Monitoring Delegation emphasized that the city is in dire need of a modern waste treatment plant, applying advanced technology with appropriate capacity to meet the increasing demand for waste treatment, aiming to build a green - clean - beautiful living environment, sustainable development for current and future generations.
