In the first quarter, the Steering Committee 389 of ministries, branches, provinces and cities has carried out leadership, direction and dissemination, requiring units and forces to strictly implement the directives of the Government, the Prime Minister, and the National Steering Committee 389 on the fight against smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods. The functional forces actively and proactively carried out professional measures, promptly detected, fought, prevented, arrested and strictly handled violations of the law related to smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods, illegal transportation of goods across the border, contributing to stabilizing the market, protecting the rights and interests of businesses and consumers, ensuring security and order, serving the socio-economic development of the country.

Along with that, the work of exchanging, sharing information, coordinating the fight against smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods between the Steering Committee 389 of ministries, branches, provinces and cities has achieved high efficiency. Many major violations have been jointly detected, arrested and handled according to the provisions of law; there have been no hot spots of smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods; information and propaganda work against smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods on the media has been widely spread in many fields, locations and subjects.

In the first quarter, units and localities arrested and handled over 30,600 violations, down 0.77% over the same period. Of which, over 6,700 cases of trading and transporting prohibited and smuggled goods were discovered and arrested; over 22,700 cases of trade fraud, tax fraud and over 1,100 cases of counterfeit goods and intellectual property violations. The State budget collected over 4,600 billion VND, up 59.45% over the same period. Authorities prosecuted 1,328 cases and 2,046 subjects.

Particularly during the implementation of the Peak Plan before, during and after the Lunar New Year 2025, the authorities arrested and handled nearly 39,500 violations, an increase of 27.42%. The State budget collected about 5,441 billion VND, an increase of 87.29% over the same period in 2024. Criminal prosecution of 1,506 cases, 2,272 subjects.

In Phu Tho province, in the first quarter, the Provincial Steering Committee 389 directed functional sectors to strengthen close coordination in the fight against smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods. The work of detecting and preventing smuggling, trading in prohibited goods, and manufacturing and trading in counterfeit goods achieved positive results. Crimes and violations related to the production and trading of prohibited goods, counterfeit goods, and trade fraud were limited, with no serious violations occurring. The functional forces detected and handled 170 violations, a decrease of 150 cases compared to the same period in 2024. State budget revenue reached over 10.8 billion VND.

Concluding the conference, Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son acknowledged and highly appreciated the efforts of Steering Committee 389 of ministries, branches and localities; at the same time, pointed out the causes, shortcomings and limitations in the fight against smuggling and trade fraud in the first months of 2025.

Deploying tasks in the coming time, the Deputy Prime Minister requested: Steering Committee 389 of ministries, branches and localities to continue to thoroughly grasp and seriously and effectively implement the directions of the Government and the Prime Minister on the fight against smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods; strengthen the National Steering Committee 389, ministries, branches and localities, thereby reviewing legal documents and developing standards and regulations on counterfeit and poor quality goods; proactively develop regulations on coordination in implementing programs, plans and solutions to fight against smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods in accordance with the developments of the local situation and task requirements; strengthen the inspection and supervision of functional forces in production and business activities to promptly handle violations; promote the application of digital transformation, apply modern technology in the process of fighting against smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods; improve the professional capacity and expertise of the functional forces. He also promoted the spirit of denouncing smuggling, fraud, trade and counterfeit goods among the people; at the same time, advised people not to assist, protect or cover up smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods.
