Dream start for Vietnam futsal team
The Vietnamese futsal team entered the match against Brunei in the fourth round of Group A of the Southeast Asian Futsal Championship with a single goal: a big win. Against an opponent who had conceded 24 goals in the first two matches, coach Diego Giustozzi and his team needed a "rain of goals" to temporarily take the top spot from Thailand, before the Golden Temple team entered the match against Malaysia at 6 p.m.
With the overwhelming advantage, the Vietnamese futsal team quickly took control of the game. Coach Giustozzi arranged a very strong formation with Ho Van Y, Pham Duc Hoa, Nhan Gia Hung, Chau Doan Phat, Nguyen Thai Huy, thanks to that, Vietnam pressed Brunei's field and continuously poured thunderous shots on the opponent's goal.
Vietnam futsal team pushes up lineup to put pressure
Among them, Thai Huy's skillful left-foot handling and Gia Hung's acceleration became the highlights, helping the Vietnamese futsal team overwhelm their opponents.
In just the first 5 minutes, Brunei's net shook 23 times. In the 2nd and 3rd minutes, Thai Huy scored a double with a decisive shot, followed by a close-range tap-in. In the 12th minute, it was Doan Phat's turn to shine with a powerful right-footed shot from 6 meters away, giving the Brunei goalkeeper no chance to save the goal.
Leading Brunei 3-0 quickly, but the Vietnamese futsal team still rushed forward to put pressure. The second half of the first half saw Mr. Giustozzi change the team with Tu Minh Quang and Nguyen Thinh Phat. Opportunities continued to appear, but unlike the first half, Coach Giustozzi's students continuously wasted them, despite playing power-play with the goal of increasing the gap.
At the end of the first half, the Vietnamese futsal team also had to take a free kick due to 6 total fouls. However, Brunei's pivo was unable to defeat Ho Van Y, so the 3-goal gap remained the same.
Pressure mounts
The poor attacking performance of the Vietnamese futsal team in the first half forced coach Giustozzi to change his playing style, asking his players to attack more directly and neatly. The effect was immediate, as the players that Mr. Giustozzi sent onto the field created a new source of energy.
In the 21st minute, Nhat Trung seized the opportunity to quickly score to increase the score to 4-0, not giving the Brunei goalkeeper a chance to save the goal. Then, in just 7 minutes (from the 23rd to the 30th minute), Manh Dung, Duc Hoa, Thai Huy and Thinh Phat took turns scoring, increasing the score to 8-0.
The Vietnamese futsal team took full advantage of the moment when their opponents were down to attack with all their might to score a series of goals. In the final minutes, the Vietnamese futsal team scored 6 more goals.
After sinking the Brunei futsal team, Mr. Giustozzi and his team rose to the top with 9 full points, scoring 18 goals and conceding 1. The Vietnamese futsal team is temporarily 3 points ahead of Thailand. At 6 p.m. today, host Thailand will compete with Malaysia.
