South Hai Phong coastal economic zone project may be approved in August

On July 2, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang and the National Assembly Delegation (NAD) of Hai Phong City met with more than 1,000 voters in An Duong district via online at 16 locations.

Support the pilot establishment of a Free Trade Zone in Hai Phong; Consider perfecting breakthrough mechanisms and policies; Quickly approve the South Hai Phong Economic Zone to create new momentum for the city's development; Consider increasing the rate of regulation from budget revenue sources and regulating a fixed portion of the revenue from seaport import and export taxes for the city to allocate resources for infrastructure investment...

In addition, voters also recommended that the National Assembly consider the following issues: Building a policy mechanism to encourage businesses to invest in agriculture and rural areas; Upgrading national dykes; policies for people with meritorious services; Amending and supplementing the Law on Environment...

Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang assessed that Hai Phong has many conditions and advantages to maintain a high economic growth rate.

Voter Tran Thi Quynh Trang, An Duong district, proposed that the National Assembly, the Government, and central ministries and branches soon approve the Nam Hai Phong Economic Zone to create new development momentum for the city.

Propose that the National Assembly and the Government consider increasing the rate of regulation from State budget revenue sources and regulate a fixed portion of the revenue from seaport import and export tax for Hai Phong City to allocate investment resources for seaport infrastructure, transportation, environment and other technical infrastructure, speed up the construction progress of Hai Phong - the leading city in the country in the cause of industrialization and modernization; the driving force for development of the Northern region and the whole country...

Hai Phong Southern Coastal Economic Zone becomes a 3.0 generation eco-economic zone, multi-industry focusing on high-tech industry and logistics.

Taking note of voters’ opinions, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang said that the approval of the Project to build a Free Trade Zone in Hai Phong will be implemented immediately after the preliminary review of Resolution 45 of the Politburo and Resolution 35 of the National Assembly on the development of Hai Phong City. The approval of the Nam Do Son coastal economic zone is under consideration and is likely to be approved next month.

According to the Deputy Prime Minister, Hai Phong converges all types of transportation: road, rail, sea, inland waterway and air.

Hai Phong not only plays the role of economic center of the Red River Delta and the Northern Coastal region but also is the gateway for trade between the North and the region and the world.

In the first 6 months of 2024, Hai Phong is among the top localities in the country in terms of socio-economic development. Hai Phong is also among the top localities strong in digital transformation.

The Deputy Prime Minister also congratulated An Duong district on becoming a district. Through this, the locality will receive more attention and investment, people will enjoy infrastructure, and their lives will be improved.

The Deputy Prime Minister said he will direct ministries and branches to provide maximum support so that the process of An Duong becoming a district-level administrative unit takes place quickly, smoothly, and in accordance with regulations.

Previously, in early June 2024, the Hai Phong City Party Committee agreed, reached a high consensus and asked for the Central Government's opinion on the Project to establish the Southern Hai Phong Coastal Economic Zone.

According to the project, the South Hai Phong Economic Zone has a total area of ​​20,000 hectares, along the coastal highway, the Van Uc River area, the Nam Do Son port and logistics area, and the Tien Lang airport area, located in 4 districts: Do Son, Kien Thuy, Tien Lang and Vinh Bao.

This is a 3.0 generation eco-economic zone, multi-industry focusing on high-tech industry and modern logistics. It is the hub of Hai Phong participating in the regional and global value and supply chain.
