Project on naming commune-level administrative units after rearrangement

At the conference, Mr. Truong Quoc Huy, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Committee of Ha Nam province, on behalf of the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee, reported to the Provincial Party Committee the opinion of the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee on the project to name new commune-level administrative units after the rearrangement.

Accordingly, regarding the Project on reorganizing commune-level administrative units, the people highly agree with the plan to reorganize the current communes, wards and towns into 33 new communes and wards to ensure scientific, reasonable and meet development requirements. The people proposed to name the new communes and wards with names associated with places with historical and cultural values ​​of the land and people of Ha Nam.

Receiving people's opinions, the Provincial Party Standing Committee and the Provincial Party Standing Committee agreed to name the new communes and wards after arranging and consulting the Provincial Party Executive Committee.

Based on the proposed names of 33 new commune-level administrative units, at the conference, delegates focused on discussing and contributing ideas on naming communes and wards. Accordingly, delegates said that naming new administrative units is not only to establish administrative boundaries but also to affirm the traditional values, the process of formation and development, customs and practices of each land as well as the way to identify the "brand" in the socio-economic development of the province.

Delegates suggested that some communes and wards should consider choosing appropriate names based on using place names associated with famous people, revolutionary predecessors, historical revolutionary places, and long-standing cultural traditions of the lands...

Mr. Truong Quoc Huy, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Head of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation spoke at the conference.

Speaking at the conference, the Provincial Party Secretary and Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee said: After consulting the people on the policy of merging provinces and implementing a two-level local government, the majority of the people highly agreed with the policy of merging provinces, affirming that this is the correct policy of the Party and the State. The merger of 3 provinces: Ha Nam, Nam Dinh, Ninh Binh, named Ninh Binh province, is a famous place because of its international brand value, meaning a peaceful and serene land. The Politburo and the Central Executive Committee considered choosing ancient lands associated with long-standing historical traditions to place the center, as well as future development.

At the same time, the Provincial Party Secretary emphasized that the Provincial Party Executive Committee fully accepted the opinions of the delegates attending the conference, requested the Department of Home Affairs to complete the dossier, notify Nam Dinh and Ninh Binh provinces to name the commune-level administrative units that do not overlap with the names of communes of Ha Nam province after the merger. At the same time, notify localities in the province to collect people's opinions on the proposed plan to name new communes and wards.

Thus, according to the Project on rearranging commune-level administrative units in Ha Nam province, the whole province has 33 commune-level administrative units (16 wards; 17 communes), a reduction of 66.3% of the number of communes.
