In 2019, Apple first introduced the square camera cluster design on the iPhone 11 Pro version. Since then, Apple has kept this design style on the iPhone Pro versions, only slightly adjusting the size of the camera cluster.
However, it is likely that Apple will change this design on the iPhone 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max duo launched next year.
Technology site The Information quoted sources close to Apple as saying that the iPhone 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max duo will have a rectangular camera cluster on the back, using aluminum material, instead of a square cluster and tempered glass material like previous versions.
The source also said that the upper half of the back of the iPhone 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max uses aluminum, while the lower half still retains tempered glass to equip the wireless charging feature. This pair of products will also use an aluminum frame, instead of titanium like the recently launched iPhone Pro versions.
Based on this leaked information, the technology site MacRumors has created a complete rendering of the iPhone 17 Pro, in which the cameras on the product are arranged horizontally, on a rectangular island cluster on the back. This camera cluster design is quite similar to Google's Pixel 9 XL.

MacRumors also said that the iPhone 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max duo will use the new generation A19 Pro chip developed by Apple, manufactured on the 3rd generation 3nm process, for higher performance and more energy efficiency than the A18 Pro chip on the current iPhone 16 Pro and 16 Pro duo.
Apple will upgrade the selfie camera on all iPhone 17 versions to 24 megapixels. Currently, all versions of the iPhone 16 have a 12 megapixel front camera.
MacRumors also said that Apple initially planned to equip the iPhone 17 Pro Max with only 12GB of RAM, but then decided to upgrade the iPhone 17 Pro to 12GB of RAM. This upgrade will help the iPhone 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max multitask more smoothly and handle artificial intelligence tasks faster. Currently, all iPhone 16 versions have 8GB of RAM.
Another upgrade exclusively for the iPhone 17 Pro Max is that the Dynamic Island notched screen cluster on the product will be smaller in size, helping the product screen not to be obscured too much.
