(Dan Tri Newspaper) - The iPhone 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max are said to have a completely different design compared to their predecessors, thanks to the rectangular camera module on the back, instead of the square one used previously.
In 2019, Apple first introduced the square camera module design on the iPhone 11 Pro. Since then, Apple has maintained this design style on the iPhone Pro versions, only making slight adjustments to the size of the camera module.
However, Apple will most likely change this design style on the iPhone 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max, which will be released next year.
The Information, citing sources close to Apple, reports that the iPhone 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max will feature a rectangular camera island on the back, made of aluminum, instead of the square, glass island found in previous versions.
The source also indicated that the top half of the iPhone 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max back panels will use aluminum, while the bottom half will retain tempered glass to accommodate wireless charging. Both models will also use an aluminum frame, instead of titanium like recent iPhone Pro versions.
Based on these leaked details, the tech website MacRumors has created a complete render of the iPhone 17 Pro, in which the cameras are arranged horizontally on a rectangular island on the back. This camera cluster design is quite similar to Google's Pixel 9 XL.

MacRumors also reported that the iPhone 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max will use Apple's new A19 Pro chip, manufactured using a third-generation 3nm process, offering higher performance and better energy efficiency compared to the A18 Pro chip in the current iPhone 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max.
Apple will upgrade the selfie camera on all iPhone 17 models to 24 megapixels. Currently, all iPhone 16 models have a 12-megapixel front camera.
MacRumors also reported that Apple initially only planned to equip the iPhone 17 Pro Max with 12GB of RAM, but later decided to upgrade the iPhone 17 Pro to 12GB of RAM. This upgrade will help the iPhone 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max handle multitasking more smoothly and process AI tasks faster. Currently, all iPhone 16 models have 8GB of RAM.
Another upgrade exclusive to the iPhone 17 Pro Max is that the Dynamic Island notch will be smaller, preventing the screen from being obscured too much.

Furthermore, Apple is also reportedly planning to design its own 5G chips for the iPhone 17 series, no longer using 5G chips supplied by Qualcomm as before. This will give Apple greater technological independence and reduce its reliance on external partners.
However, this information remains speculative, and Apple could very well change the configuration and features of the iPhone 17 series in the near future. More than anyone else, Apple knows that it needs to create something new in the iPhone line, as users seem to have grown bored with the iPhone versions that have seen too few changes in recent years.
